“ | All accidents, of course, nothing that would have pointed to him. But I was always careful around him, the daisy-scar on my back a constant reminder that we were not friends, that he was no longer to be trusted. I told people, but he seemed to feed on the uneasy glances of his classmates, and took great pleasure in scaring them further. | „ |
~ Elias Bouchard on Calving Benchley from the perspective of Alice "Daisy" Tonner. |
Calvin Benchley is a minor antagonist of the Rusty Quill horror podcast The Magnus Archives.
He was the childhood friend of detective Alice Tonner, before one day having an encounter with a mysterious man and becoming violent, attacking her. He grew up to be an aggressive criminal, responsible for several assaults, before being killed by his old friend.
Personality[]
Before the age of eleven, Calvin seemed to be a relatively normal, thoughtful boy. After the incident in the graveyard, however, he became sadistic and aggressive. He took great pleasure in senseless violence and enjoyed intimidating others. However, he stayed somewhat intelligent and was never caught for his crimes.
Biography[]
Growing up, Calvin's best friend was Alice Tonner, although they didn't talk at school. However, after school they would play in a nearby park and abandoned building site. One day, they heard some commotion from the building site, and Alice dared Calvin to go in. He did, and found to corpses in building, before climbing some stairs and meeting a hunched creature covered in bloodless wounds. The creature spoke in his ear, and when it was done, he saw Alice had come in. Having been turned to violence by the creature, he attacked her, pushing her into the metal fence, which created a daisy-shaped scar in her back, giving her her nickname. Alice went to the hospital, and Calvin told everyone she fell. This destroyed his friendship with her, although he didn't seem to care.
Afterwards, Calvin continued to be moody and violent, but never openly attacked anyone, preventing him from being caught. This continued into adulthood, when he continued to intimidate and assault others. Alice, now usually called Daisy for her scar, now a police officer, tried to get him arrested several times, but witnesses were always too afraid to testify against him. Eventually, Daisy hit him over the head while he was coming out of a bar, took him to an isolated field, and shot him five times.
Trivia[]
- Calvin Benchley was strongly implied to be an avatar of the Slaughter, with the creature he met most likely being an aspect of the Slaughter.
