Calvin Bunker is a supporting antagonist in Season 3 and one of the two main antagonists (alongside Clay Burton) in Season 4 of the Cinemax TV Series Banshee. He is the archenemy of his brother Kurt.
He was portrayed by Chris Coy, who also played Martin in The Walking Dead, Peter in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Travis in Hostel: Part III.
Biography[]
He is the Aryan Brotherhood's Banshee Charter's acting leader as the leader Randall Watts; who also happens to be Calvin's father in-law; is incarcerated. He has a wife Maggie and a son Hank. On the surface he seems like a good father and husband who provides for his family, working an office job, but he actually has boiling rage inside of him caused by his strained marriage, the business relationship with Kai Proctor, dissatisfaction with Watts as the Leader of the Brotherhood and his brother Kurt who is on a campaign to destroy the brotherhood.
He tries to get Kurt; who is now a Deputy Sheriff; to rejoin the Brotherhood, but he refuses informing Calvin that he is going to take the entire Brotherhood. This infuriates Calvin, so he breaks into Kurt's house in the middle of the night and burns his nazi tattoos of, reasoning it with the fact that since Kurt refuses to take off his cop uniform, he can't allow Kurt to wear "his uniform" either.
18 months later and Calvin's frustrations seem to be reaching an all-time high as the Brotherhood is basically acting as Proctor's lackeys. It doesn't help that Watts is suddenly released from prison. Calvin decides that enough is enough and he finally snaps and stabs Watts to death with an ice pick. He then cuts his body into pieces, getting rid off all the parts, but his head. After this he proceeds to rape his wife, as they haven't had sex in months. He also beats his boss down at the office to death due to him being Asian.
The next day he pays a visit to Proctor's office and brings him Watts' head as "a gift". He also informs Proctor that the Brotherhood now answers to him and that they would not be working for him anymore. They would also take all of Proctor's warehouses, shipments and buyers. Proctor takes this as a declaration of war and he sends his right-hand Burton to the Brotherhood's clubhouse and take out as many brothers as he can. This is the final straw for Calvin and he takes the entire Brotherhood with him to Proctor's house with the intention of taking him out. However, they are interrupted by Senator Mitchum, a nationwide Shot Caller of the Brotherhood, who orders Calvin and his boys to stand down. Mitchum also strips Calvin off of his stripes and names a new leader to the charter.
Having no family, no job and no Brotherhood, Calvin confronts Kurt at Sheriff Brock Lotus' house; where Kurt has taken Calvin's family in for sanctuary. He demands to see his wife, but Kurt refuses. This causes Calvin to punch Kurt and the two fight brutally, with Kurt eventually overpowering Calvin. Severely beaten, Calvin still tries to lunge at Kurt, while also throwing threats at him saying he would rather kill his family than let Kurt have them. Kurt then pulls his gun out and puts three bullets in Calvin's chest, killing him.
