Camael is one of the main antagonist in Date A Live. He is the angel who that possessed the body of Kotori and caused one of the largest fires in the history of the city of Tengu, killing hundreds of innocent people in the process and as also is the guy who tried to kill Origami and Kurumi and transformed the life of Kotori Itsuka into a nightmare.

Camael in Theology

In Latin Camael, meaning One who sees God, also known as Kamuel, Khamael, Chamuel, Camiel or Camniel is an angel in Christian and Jewish mythology and angelology, and is often included in lists as being one of the seven archangels.

He is claimed to be the leader of the forces that expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden holding a flaming sword. Camael is not recognised by the Catholic Church due to the Vatican's decision to ban the veneration of angels not mentioned in the Bible.

Camael in Date A Live

Camael is the angel of the Spirit Efreet, it comes as a big red halberd, but can be disassembled into Megiddo, a cannon powered by the very flames of mana spirit of Kotori. Megiddo shoots powerful fire shots that can overcome even the defenses of other Spirits like Kurumi who easily defeated by overwhelming power Camael.

Camael appeared soon after Kotori have been transformed into Spirit by Phantom, soon after Kotori have become a Spirit, Camael Kotori did her lose control of her own powers, causing the largest fire in the history of Tengu became known as Tengu Hell.

Throughout the life of Kotori, Camael was stuck inside Kotori, however, when Kotori released her powers in battle against Kurumi, Camael was awake and tried to take control constantly Kotori's body, when he woke he brutally defeated Kurumi with only an attack, however, Kotori returned to control her own bodies when Shido came in front of the cannon to protect Kotori Kurumi to be dead after this Camael again became temporarily trapped inside the body of Kotori.

He woke up again during the battle of Kotori against Origami that was using the White Licorice to kill Efreet who had been the Spirit that killed the parents of Origami in Tengu in Hell, however, he returned to get stuck again, but this time inside the body when Shido, Shido sealed the powers of mind of Kotori, the powers of Camael were transferred to Shido, where he was arrested along with all the other Angels of the Spirits that were sealed.
