Cameron Mahkent is a metahuman assassin who could manipulate ice known as Icicle II in the WB/CW Television series Smallville.

He appeared as the main antagonist in the Season Nine 2-parter episodes "Absolute Justice".

He was portrayed by Wesley MacInnes.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Cameron was born a metahuman having inherited his father, the original Icicle's ice powers but tragically his mother passed away from hypothermia while giving birth to him.

Absolute Justice, Part 1[]

Having held a grudge against the Justice Society of America for putting his father Joar Mahkent into a coma, Cameron made it his mission to eliminate the retired team of heroes as revenge. He teamed with the secret government agency Checkmate who were interested in his talents and allowed him to pursue his vengeance, as its Black Pawn.

He first went after Sylvester Pemberton who was attempting to contact Chloe Sullivan about combining their teams of heroes old and new. Icicle II then attacked Pemberton on a rooftop while Chloe hid in a dumpster and mortally wounded him who shortly passed away from injuries. Before dying he warned Chloe that whoever attacked him will come for the others and repeatedly said the word "Check" before dying.

After assassinating the Star Spangled Kid, Cameron killed Wesley Dodds in his apartment. He stood in the doorway, who called Dodds "Sandman". Icicle caused the eyes in the gas mask covering Dodds' face froze and shattered. He then went through a list of the Justice Society, crossing off each member that he killed and then picked up a photo of his next target; Courtney Whitmore.

He found Courtney in a Suicide Slums alley in a star-covered costume. As the protégé of the Star Spangled Kid, Courtney had now taken the identity of Stargirl. They engaged in a duel and Icicle knocked Green Arrow down and then attacked her.

Stargirl attacked with the cosmic staff and their two weapons clashed, creating a shockwave that threw them off their feet. She ran for the staff just as he shot icicles at her, but Green Arrow deflects them with an arrow and Icicle escapes.

Absolute Justice, Part 2[]

Forced to withdraw from his crusade, Icicle later visits his comatose father and states he will make the JSA pay for what they have done to him. At Checkmate's headquarters, Amanda Waller paid Icicle a visit and tells him he's taking his assignment too personally, which is causing him to be sloppy.

He snarls back at Waller, stating that the only reason he took the job when she got him out of the juvenile system was to settle a vendetta against the Society for what they had done to his father. He surrounded Waller with his power, threatening to choke her with his icy touch, but she claims she isn't bothered by the cold, so Icicle backed down. He cites the several people he killed for her who might have even been innocents and said she owes him for that.

She responded that this is strictly business and that it should have been finished years ago and is a black mark on Checkmate's record. He sneers, insisting that she should let him finish it. Doctor Fate and John Jones staked out at the nitrogen depot, knowing Icicle would come there to recharge his powers. Cameron had killed two employees there before impaling Doctor Fate from behind with an ice spear.

He spots the magic helmet of Nabu fell off Kent's body, and picks it up. He went back to his father's room in the hospital with the helmet, gloating about how he finally had the means to destroying the Society once and for all. He pulled the plug on his father, believing that his battle had already been won, before placing the helmet on his head.

Golden energy filled the room as Icicle screams at the visions he now saw. He gained almost infinite magic power with the helmet and tracked the Society and the new team, the Justice League, to their headquarters where he fought them all at once without hesitation.

Teleporting into the room, wearing the Helmet of Nabu, Icicle uses his power to hold Chloe in a choke hold until she was rendered unconscious. Stargirl rushes to her side. Hawkman flies down with his mace, as Clark uses his heat vision, Green Arrow fires an arrow, and Stargirl fires energy from her staff in a multiple assault.

Icicle staggers for a moment and then fires back with a mystic energy which sends them all flying away from him, and he starts to fire an energy bolt to kill Stargirl, who stands her ground. But John Jones suddenly flies into the room from the shattered window and knocks Icicle a distance away from Courtney.

Icicle remarks that he thought he'd killed him earlier, and John states that's why he is Mars' sole survivor. The entire team surround Icicle and Hawkman uses his mace to knock the helmet off of Icicle. He was arrested but secretly taken into custody by Checkmate, led by Amanda Waller. She explained that she had only used him as a tool to get her way and she pointed a gun at Cameron before welcoming him to the Suicide Squad. She then shot him point blank, presumably killing him.
