Modification Captain Cannonborg (改造隊長キャノンボーグ Kaizō Taichō Kyanonbōgu) is a major antagonist in Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger, serving as the main antagonist of the show's second lap.

Cannonborg is voiced by Kujira, who have previously voiced Orochimaru in Naruto and El of the Wind in Kamen Rider Agito.

Biography[]

Past[]

While the early history remains largely undocumented, it is established that Cannonborg originated on Planet Needham. He subsequently assumed the role of Modification Captain within Hashiriyan, collaborating with Madrex prior to his deployment to Earth.

Present[]

Subsequent to Madrex's defeat at the hands of the Boonboomgers, Cannonborg arrives on Earth to assume command, coinciding with a collision with Engine Speedor. Upon assessing the Sanseaters' inadequate Gyahsoline collection efforts, Cannonborg expresses dissatisfaction and subsequently assumes direct oversight of the Earth invasion.

Subsequently, Cannonborg develops the Boonboom Killer Robo as a strategic measure to neutralize the Boonboomgers. This automaton is equipped with a boombox emitting "Gyakuten Agesage Ondo," a sonic weapon designed to debilitate the Boonboomgers, and is piloted by the Sanseaters. Through Genba's strategic acumen, the Boonboomgers successfully disable the boombox, restore their power, and eliminate the Killer Robo. Furthermore, the Boonboomgers later neutralize a modified iteration of the Killer Robo.

Cannonborg has requested the expertise of Sakito Homura, renowned cleaner, to transport the Legendary Sword of Planet Reflector from Hashiriyan HQ to Earth. Following the successful delivery, Cannonborg initiated introductions with the Boonboomgers. Subsequently, Sakito was responsible for the destruction of Sword Grumer, a construct created by Itasha from the aforementioned legendary sword.

Cannonborg modifies Yaiyai Yarucar without his permission, giving him the ability to fire the Highway Beam (ハイウェイ光線 Haiwei Kōsen), which can enlarge Kurumaju without the need to enter Highway Space, a move that demotivates the Sanseaters.

Subsequently, Cannonborg enlists Sakito Homura to combat the Boonboomgers, leveraging a trading card in his possession as leverage by the Sanseaters to compel his cooperation. This ultimately results in Sakito's defection from the Hashiriyans and his alignment with the Boonboomgers. Cannonborg then transforms the Planet Reflector's sword into the Boonboom Killer Classic, which is utilized in combat by the Boonboom Killer Robo.

Death[]

Upon discovering the Sanseaters' meager Gyahsoline collection, Cannonborg initiates their ultimate strategy: deploying the Jackie Hoihoi satellite towards Earth, a decision that surprises even the Sanseaters. While preparing to launch Jackie Hoihoi in secret, Sakito intervenes, disabling the weapon and revealing the ISA's role in exposing their location to the Boonboomgers. Cannonborg subsequently brainwashes the Sanseaters, deploying them against the Boonboomgers while engaging Sakito in a personal duel. Cannonborg proposes an alliance to assassinate Waruido Spindo and seize control of Hashiriyan, an offer Sakito declines, leading to Cannonborg's defeat. Enraged by Cannonborg's actions, the Sanseaters enlarge them, leaving them to confront the Boonboomger Robo and Byunbyum Mach Robo. The Boonboomgers then combine their Boonboom Cars, ultimately destroying Cannonborg and Jackie Hoihoi.

Legacy[]

In Bakuage 29, it's revealed that Cannonborg made a deal with the Aori family, who tried to capture Mira at the beginning of the series. Cannonborg offered them to become the commanders of Earth when the Hashiriyans conquer it, giving them an Ignition Key as a proof of the deal. Ishiro Meita is tasked by Eiichiro Tokoyari to retrieve the key from the Aori family and bring it to him. It's revealed that the deal was the reason why Tokoyari disclosed Cannonborg's location to the Boonboomgers, as the deal was a hindrance to his plans.

Personality[]

Cannonborg is an intelligent yet prideful and arrogant commander, who has a very low toleration for failure. Cannonborg will often punish the Sanseaters for slacking off and failing to collect Gyahsoline, which earned them their enmity.

However, Cannonborg's fighting capabilities are almost non-existent, which is why they stays behind and leave the Sanseaters to do the dirty work, another reason they resent them.

Despite that, Cannonborg respects those above him in the Hashiriyan hierarchy, especially their boss, Waruido Spindo. This respect disappears, however, when Cannonborg believes that Spindo abandoned them to die by the hands of the Boonboomgers. Cannonborg then begins developing a superiority complex when they begins to believe that they're not only the smartest person in Hashiriyan, but in the entire universe. This leads to them trying to destroy Earth, a plan that even the Sanseaters oppose to, and attempting to turn on Hashiriyan together with Sakito.
