You know they call Callisto the dead moon? Dead. Just like you would've been if I hadn't fished you out of that wreck. I mean shit, as far as anyone else is concerned you are dead. It's time you moved on, 'cause you are crossing over to a new kingdom... my kingdom. So whatever it is you're holding on to right there, that's your old life, you gotta let that go. Because your new life, is entirely... in my hands. So rise, dead man!
~ Ferris as he brings Jacob to his cell.
Well, well, well. 521. You know, I really ought to thank you. At first I thought this was a curse. But then I realized... it is a gift. You see, the warden has opened my eyes. Showed me my purpose. And now... I'm gonna show you.
~ Ferris before his final battle with Jacob.

Biography[]

The Callisto Protocol[]

There's always a price to pay.
~ Ferris's mantra to justify his cruelty

When cargo pilot Jacob Lee crashes onto Jupiter's moon of Callisto, his ship is searched by security bots under the command of Ferris, who introduces himself as Black Iron security, before leading Jacob outside with an oxygen mask. As the machines apprehend Dani Nakamura, Ferris suddenly receives an order from warden Duncan Cole to bring Jacob in as well, and the robots drag both of them to be transported. He briefs the two on the rules, that inmates are not to speak unless spoken to, and that they will address him Captain Ferris. A holographic welcome message from Cole then plays, before Ferris brings Jacob to his cell against his protests, assigning him as inmate 532-521.

After the bio-phage outbreak begins, Jacob escapes containment with the help of fellow prisoner Elias Porter, and makes his way to the command tower, where Leon is directing his squads to fight back against the zombies. Lee tries to sneak past, but the captain uses his Gravity Restraint Projector to freeze Jacob in his tracks, using it to slam him around the room while accusing him of causing the outbreak and asking why the warden wanted him alive. Jacob lands near a door and opens it, causing the bio-phages to rush Leon until one tackles him out the window. Lee takes his stun baton as a melee weapon.

Though Jacob tells fellow escapee Elias Porter that the captain is dead, Ferris later reveals himself alive when he opens an airlock that unleashes onto Callisto's surface, where Elias dies of asphyxiation in from moon's atmosphere. After Jacob finds the larva sample from the creature than caused the original infection, Leon properly re-introduced himself as having been mutated by the virus, and attacks Jacob, who barely fends him off in melee combat. He manages to retreat behind a reinforced glass door with the help of Dani, but she is infected by a bio-phage creature, which Ferris taunts him over by claiming she will soon join him in being a zombie.

As Jacob searches for a cure, he infiltrates Duncan's quarters as he is meeting with Kallipolis, demanding the alpha DNA needed to stop the infection. Ferris comes forth to reveal himself as the alpha, as he fights the cargo pilot once again. During the battle, Ferris mutates once again into a bigger, more monstrous form, protecting his head with a carapace shell, and gaining the ability to shoot acid. Despite this, Jacob eventually defeats Ferris, who dies of his injuries, which allows Lee to take the DNA from his corpse with a syringe.
