Captain Flarty is the main antagonist of the Bob's Burgers episode "Mutiny on the Windbreaker". He is the sea captain of a ship called "The S.S Windbreaker".

He is voiced by Jeffrey Tambor, who had previously played K. Edgar Singer in Muppets from Space, Mayor Augustus Maywho in The Grinch, and also voiced Crazy Quilt in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, King Neptune in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Crocker in Batman: The Animated Series, and Dr. Zin in Jonny Quest.

Appearance

Flarty wears a sailor-like outfit. He wears white pants, a white shirt and coat, and a blue bowtie. He also wears a sailor hat and has a gray beard.

Personality

He is an entitled man-child who is very sneaky when he is up to his schemes, very smart as well and cunning when it came to poisoning and stealing on his ship. He doesn't take no for an answer either and wants to get his way all the time.

Biography

Captain Flarty first appears when he enters Bob's Burgers and tries a burger. He claims it's the "best burger he's ever had" and offers Bob a position as a guest chef on a cruise to Puerto Rico for ten days. Bob turns down this offer as he has many things to be taken care of for the restaurant. Flarty doesn't accept the answer. He then offers Bob to cook on the ship for one night while it's still docked. Bob says he'll do it and Flarty says he will give the rest of the family free roam of the ship and VIP.

When the Belchers go to the Windbreaker, Flarty is on top of the ship looking down and evilly laughing, Bob asks what's so funny, Flarty lies and says he saw a funny fish. Flarty then has his first mate, Mr. Asch, to show Bob how the burgers are done on the ship. When Asch leaves, Bob is greeted by Chef Duval, who is the head chef of the ship. Duval thinks Bob is trying to replace him but when Bob says that he is cooking only for one night, Duval explains that he was the "special guest chef for one night" and has been on fifty six voyages, implying Flarty held him hostage.

Flarty secretly undocks the ship and takes it to Puerto Rico. Bob is called to be personally thanked by Flarty and the family was supposed to leave after desert, but Bob quickly notices the ship moving when they are in the dining area. Bob opens the windows and sees the ship out in open water. Flarty tells Bob that he'll be his personal chef afterall, and Bob freaks out about this because him and his family have been shanghaied. Linda, Tina, Gene, and Louise seem excited about being on vacation when in reality he kidnapped Bob and his family for the ship. Flarty takes Bob to steer the boat to ensure the family stays on the ship and that their vacation happens, however Flarty tells Bob he will take him to the bridge to make arrangements but instead takes him to the galley. Flarty tells Bob it will be his home for the next ten days. Bob says he's out of his mind, but when Flarty is distracted Bob runs down the hall. When Bob does take off Flarty tells the crew to find Bob and it is implied here that Flarty stole the crew's passports to put his crew together. When Bob goes outside and grabs a torch, he alerts another boat but every time Bob speaks, Flarty plays a funky bass line to prevent Bob from escaping.

Bob sees Duval planning to serve his famous oysters for the next morning, even though they are rotten. Duval does not want to throw them away, saying that Flarty threatened to force him to teach pole dancing to seniors if he does not serve them. Flarty orders one of his crew members to get the brunch ready and the other to find Bob, he even says the more Bob runs the more he wants him. Bob hides outside on the deck and informs Louise that Flarty is going to serve rotten oysters that morning. Louise helps Bob to stop the oysters from being served to the passengers, she does this by taking Kiki, Flarty's pet capybara, and running off. Flarty orders his two crew members that are near him to stop Louise. Before Louise grabs Kiki though the other crew members are looking for Bob on the ship. Bob's plan fails, as Louise accidentally leads Flarty and his men to him.

Flarty then takes Bob and his family to the area where the ship is driven and claims that Bob was using Kiki for his "sadistic game". Bob then calls a mutiny and Flarty tells him if he fails he will put him on a dinghy with only a compus and a biscuit. When Bob doesn't do a good job they were about to get ready to put Bob on a dingy, but then one of the crew members walk in and tells Flarty there is a problem. Which of course being that the oysters were rotten and the passengers were throwing up. Flarty doesn't seem to care when Bob asks to go to land since they needed a hospital, Flarty brushes this off by telling Duval to make Bob a dinghy. Duval stands up to him and says no. All of the other crew members soon stand up to Flarty, who gives up and burps in Bob's ear. He then leaves and has Bob and Duval relieved of their duties.
