Captain Happy is the main antagonist of the Netflix animated series Dogs in Space.

Appearance[]

Happy is a tall anthropomorphic French poodle dog. He wears a light blue jumpsuit with a slightly dark belt, red rubber boots and gloves, and a policeman's badge on his left shoulder. In the final episode of Season 1, he wears a pair of dark aviators.

Personality[]

Happy is an arrogant and narcissistic dog, with very childlike behavior. Despite this he still cares for his crewmates on the Venus

Because of his rivalry with Garbage, Happy proved to be an envious, competitive villain who does everything to win, even cheating.

Biography[]

Happy is a board member whose job it is just to keep everything in order on the ship. Like all dogs, his mission is to find a new planet for Earth's humans and on other planets. He is very well received and and likes to show off his victories to Garnage and his crew

When Kira arrived on the M-Bark, Happy started to suspect that Garbage is up to something and alerts the other board members, but they don't pay much attention to Happy because he is routinely suspicious of Garbage

After several attempts, he ends up discovering that Garbage and Kira are planning a mutiny on the ship by using a brainwashing device that could make sentient dogs go back to being normal dogs.

Happy tries to arrest Garbage for treason, but Kira steals his weapon and sends him and Garbage to a mysterious magnetic planet.

Happy tries to assemble a transmitter using the wreckage of the ship to try to communicate with his crew and ask for help, but when Garbage discovers that the fireflies that inhabited that planet were able to transmit radio messages from Earth and also discover that Kira's old owner Olga did not abandon her. He attempts to rebuild the transmitter, almost destroying it before being picked up by the Pluto

With this, they manage to return to M-Bark and find Kira's device and try to turn it off, but as the machine was made with advanced technology, The dogs took a long time to figure out how to turn it off. Eventually after being shown the message Kira gives herself up.

Trivia[]

  • Though Kira was the main antagonist, Happy was far more hostile and irredeemable than Kira and served as Garbage’s rival.
  • Happy is pretty similar to Ercole Visconti from Luca. As they are both arrogant and are always bragging about their achievements in the face of their rivals (Garbage/Luca and Alberto).
