Captain Hollister is the main antagonist in the 1980 Stephen King novel, Firestarter and its 1984 film adaptation as well as in the 2022 remake. He also serves as the overarching antagonist of the horror novella The Mist.
Hollister, the director of a scientific/intelligence-faction known as the Shop, sends agents led by John Rainbird to recapture guinea pigs-turned-fugitives Andy McGee and his preteen daughter Charlie. (Hollister's men have already murdered Vicky Tomlinson-McGee, Andy's wife and Charlie's mother.) Rainbird is also assigned to prevent the release of information which could get the Shop closed down. After Rainbird achieves both of said objectives, Hollister has the father and daughter separated, then tells Charlie that they're going to be the best of friends...and that she'll accept what's to come.
Ultimately, Andy uses his powers to bend Hollister's mind. Hollister, now Andy's puppet, helps him engineer an escape for Charlie and himself; the Captain also arranges a reunion for Andy with his daughter. This is short-lived, however, since Rainbird has made separate arrangements to meet with Charlie. Andy, having learned Rainbird's true identity from Hollister, orders the Captain to shoot him. Hollister misses; Rainbird then guns down his boss, along with Andy.
2022
Hollister is instead portrayed as female, by the name Jane Hollister, but does inflict the same damages as her novel and original film counterparts do.
Trivia[]
This is the second Stephen King villain to be portrayed by Martin Sheen, who previously played Greg Stillson in the 1983 film The Dead Zone, based on the 1979 novel of the same name.
