Captain Hook is a minor character in DreamWorks' 8th full-length animated feature film Shrek 2 and a major antagonist in DreamWorks' 14th full-length animated feature film Shrek the Third.
In Shrek 2, he was voiced by Tom Waits and Nick Cave. In Shrek The Third, he was voiced by Ian McShane, who also played Judas Iscariot in Jesus of Nazareth, Dr. Brinkman in Agent Cody Banks, Iofur Raknison in The Golden Compass, Tai Lung and the Chameleon in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, Gordon in SpongeBob SquarePants, Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Leigh Emerson in American Horror Story: Asylum, Winston Scott in the John Wick film series and Tobias Moore in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Shrek 2[]
Captain Hook first appears when King Harold enters the Poison Apple where he plays a piano and sings "Little Drop Of Poison". In a later scene he sings "People Ain't no Good" when Shrek believes his wife dumped him for Prince Charming. At the end of the film, he is seen with Kyle playing the piano during the "Livin' la Vida Loca" number after Fairy Godmother's defeat.
Far Far Away Idol[]
In the music show in the Shrek 2, Captain Hook appears as a contestant singing "Hooked on a Feeling " until Tinkerbell whispers in Simon Cowell's ear, saying he isn't a good singer. This causes him to fall down.
Shrek the Third[]
In Shrek the Third, Captain Hook appears with a more active role, being first seen playing the piano while a witch sings. When Charming calls the villains his friends, Hook responds be telling them they aren't friends with him and tries to beat him up. Charming, however, convinced Hook and the other villains (Stromboli, Headless Horseman, the Evil Queen, the Evil Trees and the Witches) to join him in taking over Far Far away, something they agree to do. During the takeover, he mistakes a young boy for Peter Pan and joins his crooks in attacking the castle. When Charming, Hook and the Cyclops see Wolf, Gingy, Pinocchio, and The Three Little Pigs, Charming demands to know where Shrek is. They deny knowing anything, then Charming orders them to cooperate with him, because he will be the new king of Far Far Away. Gingy states the only thing he'll be king of is King of Stupid. Then Captain Hook demands Gingy tell him where Shrek has gone, and Gingy goes into a dream remembering his past life including be tortured by Lord Farquaad in the first film. Charming then asks Pinocchio about Shrek's whereabouts, knowing he can't lie. One pig couldn't take it any longer, and told Charming that Shrek was out bringing back the new heir. Charming then orders Hook to kill the new heir and bring Shrek back alive so he can kill him himself.
Hook and his pirates travel to the island where Shrek, Donkey, Artie, and Puss were. With a piano playing, he orders his men to attack. However, this attack fails as Hook's men are defeated, causing Hook to be forced to tell them where Charming is. Later at Charming's play, Hook and the other villains attempt to kill Shrek but are stopped by Artie, who moves them with his speech, after which Hook confesses he grows daffodils. He is the first one to drop his weapon, redeeming himself.
