| ~ Captain Popsicle's answer to the criticism of Monica and Jimmy Five to the non-necessary complexity of his plans. |
Captain Popsicle is a major antagonist in Monica's Gang, debuting as the main antagonist of the parody miniseries Monica's Gang: Quite Lost, jokingly based on the popular TV series Lost.
He was the first character ever created by the famous Brazilian comic artist, Mauricio de Sousa, when he was a kid, and used to be popular among Sousa's friends. He was forgotten though, after Mauricio started a career and created his magnum opus characters, the Monica's Gang. This filled Captain Popsicle's heart with hatred and evil, and motivated to get rid of Monica's Gang by any means necessary, so he'd be Mauricio's only character, and by extension, the most popular once again.
Personality[]
Captain Popsicle was, about the time he was created, a typical "good-guy", a non-flawed superhero that taught morals to the readers and was always a example of pure goodwill. It all changed however, when he was forgotten at the bottom of the drawer, when Monica's Gang was created. He proved to love the attention he received more than he's actual job, and then turned into a love hungry sociopath, determined to do anything to achieve his goals, including kidnapping, slavery, and even trying to murder people to get what he wants.
Biography[]
Captain Popsicle was created as the main character of the first comic book Mauricio de Sousa ever created, an example of a classic superhero, with a simple design, constantly fighting evil threats and defending Earth. He was very popular amongst Sousa's neighborhood and school friends. Captain Popsicle always loved all the love and attention people gave him. When Sousa grew up, Captain Popsicle stayed dormant, until he created his new comic book characters, the Monica's Gang, that became very popular in a considerably small amount of time. They started becoming more and more beloved by Brazil, which ignited a flame within Captain Popsicle, whose attention seeking and narcissistic nature just couldn't handle the fact he wasn't the star of Mauricio de Sousa's creations, besides being the first one. He then, starts his revenge plan against the gang.
Monica's Gang: Quite Lost[]
Popsicle's first villainous activity was sending invitation letters to Monica's Gang, while in fact the letters were teleportation devices (creation of Popsicle himself) that once open, teleported the one who opened it to the destination previously specified by Popsicle, which was, in this case, a completely desert island. He picked up the main characters and some of the most popular secondary characters, and set them all in the island, along with a destroyed airship and erased their memories with especial toxic plants with a memory-erasing polén, so they'd think they were in an airship, that crashed, and wouls simply wait until their parents come to recue them, "as good kids".
As the Gang survives in the island, going on adventures that pretty much resemble the happenings pf the Lost TV Series, they start uncovering the true nature of the island, and end up discovering a secret location within one of the island's mountains, in which Captain Popsicle maintained the writers and drawers of Mauricio de Sousa Productions, so they'd start a new comic book with him as the protagonist. While the gang explores it, Captain Popsicle shows up, and lock them all in his hideout, and explained everything to them, while they though that many of his ideas from that plan weren't necessary and overly complicated, and he refuted, saying that he liked complex plots. But they were distracting him, as Blu was calling Mauricio and Jimmy Five stole the control that controled all of the island. Seemingly defeated, he grabbed Monica and flought to the sky with her, preparing to drop her, and he'd later "take care of the others", but Blu kicked Bugu with an extreme force, aiming at Popsicle, and made him drop Monica, and they both were catched by Mauricio. Mauricio said Popsicle was only perturbed, and would be send to a "Stressed Anonymous Comic Book Characters Reabilitation Study", but appearently it didn't went well, as he'd later appear occasionally antagonizing the Gang.
Appearance[]
Captain Popsicle is a very simple designed character, a humanoid, yet a very tiny one and with a big head, four toes at both hands, like many of Mauricio's characters, circle-like feet, big eyes, and a cape. He's completely white, besides his lines, meaning that Mauricio didn't paint him when he created him. In one history he appears with blue lines over his body, due to him being drawn at a school notebook. In "The Twelve Symbols of Christmas" he is completely blue, problaby a painting error. All in all, he resembles quite a lot Horacio, a dinosaur and one of Mauricio de Sousa's characters.
Trivia[]
- He is referenced by Mauricio about how he was his first character created, at the "BIOS: Mauricio de Sousa" documentary, that can be found here: https://www.disneyplus.com/pt-br/series/bios-vidas-que-marcaram-a-sua/2rWAjviLd71c.
- In "Knows More About: Mauricio de Sousa", he has a "blue line" pattern over his body, due to him being drawed in a school notebook.
- Despite being immortal like most characters in the Monica's Gang comic book universe, he'd most likely be 70-75 years old, as he is Mauricio's first character.
- In one history, Captain Popsicle is revealed to think of himself as an muscular superhero, with a green unifor with orange details, and a black helmet. This is possibly the way Mauricio though of him when he was a kid, despite he actually being just a simple drawing.
