Captain Strong is a supporting antagonist in Mother 2/EarthBound, serving as a major antagonist in the Onett arc.
Personality[]
Captain Strong has a short temper, having little tolerance for lawbreakers. This is especially true at the time he meets Ness, when crime is running rampant on Onett's streets. He is somewhat arrogant, confident that Ness won't be able to get past his officers even after he got past the Giant Step.
Biography[]
After Ness defeats the Titanic Ant of Onett's Giant Step, Captain Strong will try to punish him for disobeying a no-trespassing law of the town's travel shack. He sends five of his best officers after Ness to test if he should open the roads to Twoson. After Ness defeats the fifth officer, Captain Strong decides to take on Ness himself by using his "Super Ultra Mambo-Tango-Foxtrot martial arts". When Ness defeats him regardless, Captain Strong opens the gate, allowing Ness to go to Twoson.
He can later be spoken to again throughout the game, where he'll reveal he's been playing through EarthBound, and is struggling to beat it.
Trivia[]
- His line, "At times like this, kids like you should be playing Nintendo Games" is famously referenced in the 2015 RPG Undertale, for the genocide route final boss, Sans's dialogue.
