Cara: WE DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE.
Noah: You know, I could turn you into the police for this.
Cara: Do it and I WILL FUCKING KILL BOTH OF YOU. If I can't have you... no one else should.
~ Cara's villainous breakdown as she threatens to kill Noah.

Cara is an antagonist in the horror video game Fears to Fathom, serving as the main antagonist of "Carson House".

She is the ex-girlfriend of protagonist Noah Baker, whom he broke up with after she became heavily addicted to meth and turned extremely unstable.

Biography[]

Cara met Noah on an online dating sight. She was three years older than him but this didn't bother either of them. For the most part, they had a stable relationship, until one day Cara began using meth. As her drug usage worsened, her mental state deteriorated to the point where Noah forcefully broke up with her and severed all contact.

Some time later, Cara became involved with a guy named Todd, but her drug use continued and she also began drinking heavily. At an unknown time, Noah's father's friend and client, Roy Carson, leaves for an important weekend trip and offers Noah a 100-dollar pay job to be a house sitter for his residence. On the night Noah begins his job, Cara buys a large amount of alcohol at a convenience store before driving away; Noah's friends Andy and Turner witness this but dismiss it, thinking she was on her way to a big party somewhere. When Noah goes to the same store to buy groceries as tasked by Roy Carson via a text message, he is met by his friends upon his arrival; they inform him of Cara's visit to the place.

At some point following this, Cara became both intoxicated as well as high on meth, and began stalking Noah as he stayed at the house. She would cut the power, break in and vandalize the property as well as set the oven on to dangerous levels. She would ultimately grab a knife and try to find Noah to confront him about their previous relationship.

While at first stating she simply wanted to talk and try to work things out, as Noah tries to explain to her her behavior is unacceptable and she needs help, and later demands she leaves or he'll call the police, Cara becomes completely unhinged and tries to murder him, yelling she'd also kill his girlfriend. Noah manages to elude her and escape, his father calling the cops which results in Cara's arrest. While she tried to lie her way out of the situation, the home security cameras recorded everything, including her vandalism and her attempt on Noah's life. She was then sent to prison for a lengthy amount of time.

Personality[]

Who Cara was before she became a severe drug addict isn't entirely known, but she at least was able to keep a healthy relationship with her boyfriend Noah. After she began doing meth though, she became extremely volatile and unhinged, prompting Noah to break up with her and demand she never contact him again. While it seemed as though she moved on from him, after drinking and shooting up, Cara obsessed dangerously over Noah and began stalking him all night long. She would destroy property in anger and possibly even attempted to blow up the house he was in, before grabbing a butcher knife, showing just how deranged she had become. After confronting Noah, Cara snaps altogether and reveals how dangerous and unstable she really was, going into a murderous rage born out of jealousy and spite.

Trivia[]

  • It's implied that Cara was already unstable to begin with, as conversation between Noah and Evelyn indicated Noah's father noticed it since day 1 and therefore dismayed to see his son initially too trusting toward her.
  • Cara was likely undergoing a stimulant-induced rush during her stalking of Noah, as implied by her frantic text messages and disjointed rantings when inside the house. She also had bags under her eyes, indicative of drug-related sleep deprivation, possibly meaning that Cara has been under the influence for several days.
  • In the fan-film adaptation of Carson House which can be watched here, Cara was arrested on the spot outside the residence, a complete opposite of the game where she escaped before the authorities arrive.
