Carol Linnaeus is a minor antagonist of The Loud House, serving as the main antagonist of the Season 5 episode, "Blinded by Science".

She’s an evil scientist, working for Incognito Labs, who wants to become famous, no matter what it costs, even hurting people to achieve her goal. She is Lisa's arch-nemesis.

She was voiced by Janet Varney in her first villainous role, who later on voiced Wonder Woman in Injustice: The Movie.

Biography[]

Carol first appears after Lisa makes a lecture about Flip, the owner of Flip's Food & Fuel, because she discovered numerous fascinating facts about Flip and his body, like him being able to hold his breath for five minutes underwater or his heart being located at his belly and not his stomach, for an example. Carol appears and approaches Lisa, asking if she can use Flip to do one day research, and says that Flip will be paid, after he asks what he gets in return Lisa agrees.

Next day, Lisa can’t find any information about Dr. Linnaeus online, and when she find something about Incognito Labs, her laptop crashes. Then, Lisa discovers a secret letter from Flip, saying that he needs help. Later, she and the rat Flip used to send her a letter, are spying on Incognito Labs with a drone and discover the inhuman treatment Flip is receiving and Lisa realizes that she was wrong as Dr. Linnaeus while studying Flip. She’s able to enter the car where Dr. Linnaeus is in, and then she reveals, after Lisa asks why they’re treating Flip that way, that she wants to know how Flip would react outside of Earth's atmosphere, and that Incognito Labs main specialization is space travel and that's why they want to do such experiments on him and talks about the other people her labs have experimented on and have tortured. She then ejects Lisa out of her car after the later demands Flip to be set free.

When Lisa, her brother, Lincoln, and his best friend, Clyde, successfully break into Incognito Labs and free Flip from his cage, Dr. Linnaeus appears with two security guards, and says that Lisa is ruining her chance of becoming famous with Flip, showing that she didn't even care about science that much and only is interested in the fame that follows it. Lisa states that Flip is just a normal human being and deserves to be free, but Dr. Linnaeus claims that Flip is hers and then along with her henchmen, she pursues Lisa and Flip. The chase ends up in the rocket that Flip was supposed to be in, Flip use one of his Flippees, a popular drink from his convenience store, to make Dr. Linnaeus and her goons slip into the rocket, right in the moment that the latter was supposed to be launched. And then, Dr. Linnaeus and her henchmen end up in space, where they're probably not returning.

It's unknown if she'll someday get revenge on Lisa. But since she and her henchmen were sent into space, it's possible that she won't.

Personality[]

Dr. Linnaeus is a cold, manipulative scientist, who has no apparent feelings for others. She wants to become famous by science, and will actually do anything to achieve this goal, even extremely evil deeds. She doesn't actually demonstrates any redeeming qualities at all in the episode, with the exception that she could eliminate Lisa for knowing too much about Incognito Labs, but only ejected her out of her car. This is due to the fact that it's a kids show, and that she thought that no one would believe in her. Even though it's not stated, it can be implied that she would imprison, or even kill Lisa, Lincoln and Clyde if she had captured them.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Manipulation: She is a good manipulator, as she was able to trick Lisa into selling Flip to her. However, if her true nature go revealed, it becomes very hard to make anyone trust her.
  • Charisma: Her manipulation and influence skills, come from her charisma. Despite being a fake charisma, it is very well-played, and she is able, to trick people into believing her.
  • Scientist Skills/High Intelligence: Despite not being actually shown, Linnaeus is a high ranking scientist in Incognito Labs, what implies that she is an actual scientist. She was also able to make a complex plan to became famous, just by Lisa's lecture.
  • Influence: As already said, she is a high ranking scientist from Incognito Labs, and because of that, she is able to use their influence and resources to help her in her plans, also having two, and maybe more, men that, apparently, works as her bodyguards and helpers.

Quotes[]

Lisa, I'll be frank, your discovery may be the basis of a new field of science, we would love to do further research on your test subject at our facility. Just for a day or so.
~ Carol preparing her evil plot.
If you're referring to Test Subject: 599, we're prepping it for a very important mission… Incognito Labs specializes in aeronautics and astronomy. Street name…
~ Carol.
We've long wondered how the human body would hold up unprotected in space. We just never had the right test subject, until now.
~ Carol preparing to test Flip.
Don't be a fool, Lisa, you're walking away from fame, fortune... all for a test subject?
~ Carol trying to stop Lisa.
I can't let you do this! That's my test subject now!
~ Carol.

Trivia[]

  • She can be considered a dark parallel for Lisa Loud. They both are scientists, and do dangerous experiments on people, even without their agreement. However, Lisa (most of the time) knows when it's time to stop, and ultimately acknowledges people's rights and respects the human life. Dr. Linnaeus however, doesn't respect or care for people's rights at all. She also does inhuman experiments on people just to achieve her ultimate goa and become famous. After seeing the horrible experiments that Linnaeus was submitting Flip to, Lisa realizes that her experiments can sometimes get out of hand, especially when it involves people, and that she must be more careful with them. Linnaeus is an example of what Lisa would've become if she took her science work too far to the point where it could hurt someone.
    • They also have a tendency to refer to common terminology as a "street name," something that Lisa acknowledges.
  • Her name is a pun to Carl Linnaeus, an real-life scientist who’s the father of modern taxonomy.
  • She, Morag, and Fifi are the only three Loud House villains to try and kill members of the Loud Family. Dr. Linnaeus tried to capture Lisa and Flip, possibly to send Lisa to space with no space suit alongside him; Morag attempted to burn the whole Loud family with Lela the dragon under her control; and Fifi wanted to launch the family into space to exact her revenge on Myrtle / Agent 28, who had defeated her late husband Rufus in the same manner 37 years before the events of the film.
