Biography[]
Season 2[]
Caroline Forbes was in the hospital due to the serious injuries she sustained in the previous season. The situation seemed hopeless, but Damon decided to offer her blood to speed her recovery. However, in an unexpected twist, Katherine entered her room in the middle of the night and cruelly murdered her, suffocating her with a pillow. This dark act by Katherine was meant to initiate Caroline's transformation into a vampire.
Katherine's hatched plan had worked: Caroline, consumed by an insatiable thirst for blood, found herself attacking anyone who got in her way. Desperate and exhausted from hurting innocents, she sought Damon's help, who would not hesitate to use the stake to end the massacre. However, just at that moment, Stefan arrived in time and took Caroline to the bathroom, where they tried to clean the blood that covered her face inflamed with her. Together, they tried to contain the dark impulses that threatened to consume her completely.
Given the shocking situation she found herself in, Caroline decided to confine herself to her home for several days to overcome her thirst for blood. During that time, Bonnie worked hard on creating a special sun ring that would allow Caroline to walk in daylight without harm.
Finally, the day came when Caroline would break free from her self-imposed captivity and resume her usual life. However, before doing so, she knew that she needed to learn to control her impulses and channel her hunger more properly. Stefan became her mentor, teaching her techniques to quench her thirst and control her hunger. Together, they went hunting for animals, allowing Caroline to satisfy her needs without harming innocent humans.
With each training of hers, Caroline learned to control her instincts and keep her humanity intact. It was a challenging process, but with Stefan's guidance and her own determination, she was determined to find the balance necessary to live her new life as a vampire responsibly and consciously.
But the real test came in the middle of a lively school party in the countryside. Caroline couldn't help but feel jealous as she watched Aimee flirt with her boyfriend, Matt, which triggered a surge of intense emotions within her. In a moment of out of control, Caroline gave in to her instincts and bit Aimee, until Stefan stepped in to stop her and protect the others.
Once the party was over and sunset was approaching, Caroline and Matt found themselves in the woods. In a moment of overflowing passion, a small cut on Matt's hand caused blood to spurt, instantly arousing Caroline's hunger. However, despite her initial impulse to hurt him, Caroline remembered the lessons learned from her and decided to put her bloodlust aside, prioritizing the safety and well-being of her friends.
This moment marked a turning point in Caroline's trajectory as a villain in season 2. She learned to control her impulses and to value the importance of her relationships and the protection of those she loved. From then on, Caroline began to embrace her new vampire nature and use her powers responsibly, always seeking to keep her humanity intact, for now!
Season 6[]
After Liz's funeral, Caroline made the drastic decision to turn off her humanity to avoid feeling pain again. Even Elena tried to stop her, but her efforts were in vain as Caroline quickly snapped her neck. After this disturbing situation, the first thing Caroline did was go to a fraternity party, where she met Liam, one of Elena's ex-boyfriends. Seeing the opportunity to repeatedly seduce and feed on him, Caroline didn't hesitate to take it.
She then returned to her room and was not surprised to find Bonnie, who had recently been released from the Prison World. Caroline decided to put that encounter behind her and headed to another party to continue her fun. There, she teased Elena and teased Stefan, enjoying her mischievous game. However, when leaving the place, she ran into Enzo, whose phone she stole.
Later, she Caroline summoned Elena and Stefan to a remote bar, but revealed that she had also summoned Sarah Salvatore to the place. Her plan was to make Stefan lose his humanity, at the cost of saving Sarah's life.
In the end, Caroline got her way when Liam, Elena's ex-boyfriend, nearly removed Sarah's heart at the Mystic Falls hospital. In a desperate act not to lose her humanity, Stefan finally turned her off, revealing that Caroline never intended to release Sarah and that she was willing to let her die. However, Damon and Elena intervened in time to prevent Sarah's heart from being ripped out, saving her from her.
With Stefan's humanity snuffed out, he and Caroline went on a murder spree at Whitmore University, murdering students and principals. They even staged a quiz game massacre at the Mystic Falls bar, putting the lives of Matt and Tyler in danger. However, Stefan extinguished his humanity again when he met his mother, Lily Salvatore, and rescued them from that massacre.
Later, Caroline was ambushed in a plot hatched by Damon, who locked her in a cage along with Stefan, pretending to be Caroline's supposed ally. The goal was for Caroline to try to regain her humanity with Stefan inside the cage.
Although at first it seemed that the plan of imprisoning Caroline with Stefan to try to recover her humanity would not work, since she was willing to burn the letter that her mother had written to her before dying, finally an alternative solution presented itself. Stefan decided to go inside Caroline's mind and took her through various visions of her life and her mother's.
These visions caused a deep emotional shock in Caroline, who felt broken inside her. She relived significant and moving moments from her life and experienced the loving presence of her mother once again. Her pain and sadness flooded her being, ultimately leading her to break through her emotional barriers and reclaim her humanity.
After this intense process, she Caroline decided to step away from the team for several days to allow herself time to grieve and recuperate. During that time, she reflected on her past and the dark decisions she had made. She realized that she didn't want to be a villain and that she was ready to come back to the right side.
