“ | Milos. No, Milos, no, no! Not pornography but life itself! That's life of a victim. Love, art, blood... Flesh and soul of a victim. Transmitted live to the world who has lost all that and now is paying to watch that from the comfort of an armchair! | „ |
~ Vukmir explaining his twisted film style and justifying it. |
Villains from a controversial subgenre known as exploitation, dealing in taboo subject matter merging with stories involving horror, dark comedy, deconstruction, (sur)realism, adult entertainment, etc.; it was especially prominent during a period known as the video nasty era, spawning titles that continue to be seen due to their (intentionally) controversial content. Exploitation media is often banned but those which get released become cult-favorites amongst dedicated fans. Also, by its very nature most Internet trolling-related phenomena is exploitation and can be even more taboo due to greater difficulties in censoring the Internet.
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY THE MEDIA SHOULD BE KNOWN FOR ITS OFFENSIVE VIEWING MATERIAL which is amplified to invoke the phenomena "Refuge in Audacity" (for example: South Park, Family Guy, The Boys, Manhunt and Redo of Healer).
These villains are also hard to qualify as Pure Evil, given they are a part of media meant to be over-the-top appalling, thus making it hard for said villains to meet such heinous standards since both the story and the villain(s) themselves stand out. The story also needs a deep meaning and/or somewhat of a moral. However, exceptions can still exist if they do in fact manage to meet all criteria (e.g. HABIT, Thragg, Patrick Bateman, Sal, Alan Yates, Josh, Masayuki Kaneki, Black Noir, Jang Deok-su, Art the Clown, Aunt Ruth Chandler, and Willy Weasel).
Examples of exploitation villains are Peter Griffin, Homelander, Makima, Kromer, Oh Il-nam and Eric Cartman. Their opposites are the Controversial, or exploitation heroes.
