A common type of villain who has a big ego, huge ambitions, refusal to give up, and has little to no tolerance for failure whatsoever. They try to prevent the heroes from foiling their plans, and if they do get defeated they would often act in rage, killing or violently abusing their minions for failing to carry out their orders. Such villains also tend to warn their minions of the penalty if they fail them, which is most likely said punishment. Often goes hand-in-hand with cruel and oppressive Tyrants. They are also known as a sore loser.

However, some of these villains can have a redeeming feature if they see one of their minions do something so evil, they see it as a failure. For example, when Garrosh Hellscream learned Overlord Krom'gar destroyed the Thal'Darah Grove, he killed Krom'gar for failure to secure the land and instead laying waste to it and slaughtering innocent people. Some villains such as the MCU Vulture, simply fire their minions instead of killing him. In Toomes's case, he killed the first Shocker by mistake after he threatened his family. Others such as Jenner, killed their loyal minion after said minion realized how horrible they were.

Since these villains generally don't accept defeat, similar to Cowards, they often died (should they indeed do so) in disgrace and, unlike the cowards, it is uncommon for them to die with honor. Often it is done both on incompetent minions and scapegoat due to the fact they failed their said goals foiled by heroes, thus they deserved to be punished by their masters than they wanted.
