“ | I have gathered here before me the world's deadliest assassins, and yet each of you has failed to kill Austin Powers. That makes me angry. And when Dr. Evil gets angry, Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset. And when Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset...people DIE! | „ |

~ Darth Vader as he uses the Force to choke Admiral Ozzel to death. |
A common type of villain who is overconfident, has huge ambitions, refused to give up and has little to no tolerance for failure whatsoever. They try to prevent the heroes from foiling their plans and if they do get defeated they would often act in rage, killing or violently abusing their minions for failing to carry out their orders. Such villains also tend to warn their minions of the penalty if they fail them which is most likely said punishment. These villains often go hand-in-hand with cruel and oppressive tyrants and leaders. Some of them are also known to be sore losers or have a "Succeed or die" policy.
However, some of these villains can have a redeeming feature if they see one of their minions do something so evil, they see it as a failure. For example, when Garrosh Hellscream learned Overlord Krom'gar destroyed the Thal'Darah Grove, he killed Krom'gar for failure to secure the land and instead laying waste to it and slaughtering innocent people. Some villains, such as the MCU Vulture, simply fire their minions instead of killing them. In Toomes' case, he killed the first Shocker by mistake after he threatened his family. Other villains such as Jenner, killed his loyal minion (Sullivan) after said minion realized how horrible he was. Some particularly brutal failure-intolerant villains, such as Star King Bazeu, may not stop at punishing their minions for their failures, but may also target their minions' loved ones as a means of punishment.
Since these villains generally don't accept defeat, similar to cowards, they often die (should they indeed do so) in disgrace and rarely with honor. Often it is done both on incompetent minions and scapegoats due to the fact they failed their said goals foiled by heroes and end up punishing their minions more than they should. However, there are exceptions that can be made for some failure-intolerant villains who actually do die in honor and accept their defeat, but said exceptions are very rare. An excellent example of this would be Darth Vader.
