We are the unholy! We are the bastard sons of your media culture! Our minds, eyes and bodies were born of your exclusion, an illusion you hide behind! You don't love a god, you love your comfort! To you we are filth, we are dirty, so be it! We are dirty and unclean, a congregation of the unseen! Together we will set this world on fire! This is the new religion!
~ Black Veil Brides in "New Religion".

Heretics are those who oppose mainstream religions or political systems. While not inherently evil, Heretics often go down the most extreme pathways of ruining social ideals, sacred places of worship or mocking and hating the Deities of certain religions. Most Heretics become who they are because of rejection by general societies with religions or political beliefs different from them, although some Heretics intentionally choose to be that way for the sake of causing chaos or shock values.

This can also be used to describe villains especially blasphemous or idealistic in regard to major political faiths or ideologies, though one should not necessarily confuse them with those who fall under Defilers; but despite their differences the two can overlap, though such occasions may be increasingly rare depending on the media these villains appear in.

This can also apply to antireligious villains who hate or fear people belonging to certain religions, as well as ones that mock such religions due to their xenophobia. ms:Kategori:Bidaah
