Theatrical Villains

Sometimes known as "Classical Villains" - these are villains who have originated or appeared in plays, opera, and other media that often predates television or movies: of course many of these plays remain popular even in this day, as do their villains. Characters from works that weren't originally theatrical, but got adapted into stageplays or musicals also belong in this category.

Not to be confused with flamboyant or excessive villains, who are better classified as Extravagant.
