Vampires

These are the infamous blood-sucking creatures of the night. Although originally conceived as either horrible demons or zombie-like thralls in European folklore, Vampires have become popularized as much more intelligent and human-like beings that are labeled as the living dead so as to enhance the idea of them being more powerful and smarter than the usual Undead.

Alternatively, a Vampire can be any kind of creature that is said to feast regularly on blood or other sustenance such as energy, life-force, etc., though beings that steal life-forces may be closer to a Soul Collector.

Many Vampires are also very well-known and popular for their ability to transform into animals such as wolves, bats, owls, ravens, foxes, rats, moths and cats as well as having mist all around them during their appearance. Their prey can be humans, cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, birds such as chickens, ducks, and geese and rodents such as mice and squirrels. They are commonly depicted as hailing from the Mediterranean or Eastern Europe or having accents from either region. The most well-known example of a Vampire is Dracula.

Vampires can also be killers who take delight in sucking their victim's blood (this type of vampire is often linked with psychopathy, psychosis or perversion) - in fact these kind of sociopathic killers in part contributed to the legend of the monster and are frequently seen in horror media as examples of "living vampires".

Many, but not all of them, are considered Undead. Some may even be considered Demons. Whether a vampire is a kind of walking dead, or a true species of alive entities, depends on how they are described in the folklore it is from, or in the piece of fiction they are portrayed.
