BRAINS!
~ The common mantra that zombies utter when they're hungry.
Something my granddad used to tell us. You know Macumba? Voodoo. My granddad was a priest in Trinidad. He used to tell us, "When there's no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the earth.".
~ Peter Washington about zombies in George Romero's Dawn of the Dead.

Zombies are often portrayed as mindless and cannibalistic, but they are sometimes intelligent. They are type of undead monsters or, alternatively, a being that is not dead but unnaturally lived due to either infection with some strange virus or a parasite that controls their mind and motor system, or simply corpses that are revived via necromancy or other dark magic with similar effects.

In other cases, zombies are also created via mind-washing at hands of Brainwashers or magical substance/influences that brought corpses (mostly).

However, not all zombies are undead. In fiction, some cases are shown that zombies can also be created via certain methods of brainwashing on innocent people that made them become mindless servants, either magically or by mind control devices; perfect examples of this are voodoo zombies, cadavers that are actually humans who are brainwashed via voodoo ritualism/rituals.

What is shocking is that they are also known as Homo Necrosis Zombifis, which indicates that they belong to humanity or had evolved into a subspecies of humanity that turned fully predatory. Zombie Lords can also exist, also known as the Homo Necrosis Zombifis Dominus, Alpha Zombies, or Zombie Progenitors.

Zombies can be Pure Evil if they have a clear moral agency prior to becoming mindless zombies (e.g. Badger, Simon), or have become zombified but still possess clear moral agency and go as far as to spread the virus they're infected by, and even attempt to stop the cure altogether while still in their normal senses (e.g. Giant Man, Yoon Gwi-nam, Wafner). They can also fall under Misanthropes if villains have a hatred for humanity prior to being zombified.
