~ Cenobio |
Cenobio is the secondary antagonist in La Leyenda de Los Chaneques, and later reveal the true antagonist until the film ends.
He is voiced by Jaime Vega.
Appearance[]
He is a short, stocky man with a dark complexion. He has little black hair, and his eyes are brown. He wears a large traditional light brown hat, which covers much of his baldness. He wears a white button-down shirt with his sleeves rolled up, plus light blue pants. He wears huaraches.
Personality[]
It is known at a glance has hatred and fear of the supernatural irrationally, (especially the Chaneques in general), when they began to kidnap his co-workers, he took advantage of the fear and confusion of others to go against the creatures to eliminate them at any cost, to the point of leaving Saul at the mercy of the creatures only by the torch and leave the temple in a hurry,.
Unable to listen to Nando, Saul and Diego that there are civilians involved, preferring to blow up the temple into pieces that could have left the prisoners burned if the fire had come, summing up to that, without realizing their provocations worsened each time the hostility of the Chaneques which was what caused their downfall when they reached beyond the limit of their anger.
History[]
He is a woodcutter who has been terrified with the subject of the supernatural, believing that the Chaneques are wild beasts. Therefore, they deserved to be annihilated.
La Leyenda de Los Chaneques[]
He first appears arguing with Saul about the accident that had just happened at the sawmill. When Diego mentions the Chaneques, he tries to convince the lumberjacks not to fear them anymore, and to confront them as “beasts”, but is stopped by Saul. Before they all go home, his co-workers mock him.
The next morning, after Jimena reports Diego's disappearance, he advises everyone to split into 2 groups to cover the area, all the way to the foggy lagoon. But upon hearing Chucho's fear of that place, he criticizes him for preferring to wait and do nothing. Before leaving, Cenobio orders Vicente to carry the sacks with explosives.
He spends his time in the jungle looking for the boy, until they decide to spend the night when the fog thickens along the roads.
The next morning, he finds Chucho's shotgun broken by the Chaneques, saying that they had taken him and Vicente away like dogs, throwing the gun at Saul. He criticizes him that the villagers are not cowards, and that the Chaneques are not going to stop disappearing them. So he orders the group to go and finish them off. After hearing Nando mention the creatures, he prepares the dynamite to annihilate them. At Jimena's complaint, he tells her that they are not in a rescue. He is attacked by Nando, but Nando manages to defeat him easily by making him fall, and points his shotgun at him, Jimena, Diego and Saul, asking them if they are on his side or that of the Chaneques. He takes 2 men with him to load the cartridges, and Saul accompanies him.
Inside the Temple, he stands ready for any sign of the Chaneques. When they appear, he orders them all to be shot. Seeing Saul trapped, he decides to take his fire in hand, abandoning it in the Temple and burning a dry tree. He asks that they burn everything around them, and that the Chaneques are now coming for them. Together with several villagers, they throw explosives at the creatures.
He shouts insults at them, while laughing at their suffering. He makes a grave mistake by angering them even more, causing them to turn into a Giant Chaneque and causing a strong gale. Before the monster is complete, he tries to flee in the strong wind, but is blown away by the tree and the explosives (which he had inadvertently ignited while walking away), dying from the explosion inside the Chaneque.
