~ Gandia's last words before he is blown up along with Tokyo and some of his soldiers, avenging Nairobi. |
Cesar Gandia is a major antagonist of the Netflix series Money Heist, serving as the secondary antagonist of the third season, one of the two main antagonists (alongside Alicia Sierra) of the fourth season, and a major antagonist of the fifth season. Gandia is the Head of Security of the Bank of Spain. Initially, he was captured by the Heist Team, but later escapes with the help of Palermo in order for the latter to stage his own coup. After that he escapes again and join the Special Forces team to take out the Heist Team once again.
He was portrayed by Jose Manuel Poga.
Personality[]
An often aggressive man, his temptations are highlighted when Tokyo makes him horny in the panic room. His constant resort to violence also signifies the everlasting impact of being a special ops agent. In addition, his assassin skills are put to the test when fighting the gang in the Bank of Spain.
Gandia is short-sighted as well, not listening to his superior when he ordered him to stand down, instead attempting to fire on Tokyo and Nairobi. He also fails to understand Palermo's true goal (causing enough chaos so that Palermo is back in charge of the heist), but heavily sabotages him nonetheless.
Biography[]
When Berlin visited the Bank of Spain to look for possible hindrances in the staff, he pinned Gandia as a potential spanner due to his highly suspicious and paranoid nature.
Five years later, during the beginning of the Heist Team's robberies, he attempts to kill Nairobi and Tokyo when they were securing the Governor, causing a massive fire-fight which temporarily disabled Palermo as Gandia shot him close to the eyes. After which, he and his team were heavily restrained by the Heist Team.
After Palermo proves to be too hot-headed, Tokyo takes over the reins of the heist and imprisons him so that he doesn't interfere in the plan. Feeling humiliated, Palermo proposes an alliance with Gandia as he helps him escape, manipulating Rio so that he couldn't shoot him. Gandia makes contact with the Police outside the bank and tries to kill both Helsinki and Tokyo, and attempts to kill the entire gang at the elevator.
He later takes Nairobi hostage while she was in recovery from the sniper shot she received, as a revenge for subduing him early during his escape attempt, and as a response to her taunting. Despite Palermo promising to let Gandia go if the hostage exchange is fulfilled successfully, Gandia gives in to his wrath and kills Nairobi, and gets injured as Denver lobs him with a grenade.
Gandia is neutralized by Tokyo as she stabs him in the shoulder to make him unconscious, after which he is re-captured by the Heist Team. Despite the Heist Team itching to kill him for murdering Nairobi, The Professor uses him to regain Lisbon who was captured by the Spanish authorities. After trying to attack Bogota to escape again, Bogota beats him to an inch of his life.
Gandia later escapes again as the Special Forces attack the Bank of Spain, joining with them to take down the robbers down.
He and his team latter shoot down Helsinki and put him in a serious condition. During the fight, his impulsiveness led to the death of one of his soldiers, which causes him to be in altercation with Arteche, but he is then spared. He and the other soldiers enter the back part of the kitchen.
When Gandia and his team corner Tokyo, she lures them into coming near her as she detonates the grenades attached to her jacket, killing Gandia, Tokyo and a few other soldiers except, Sagasta, Arteche, and Vazquez.
