Chalky Cheeseman, also known as Rhett Leicester, is the main antagonist of the 1998 Wallace & Gromit graphic novel The Curse of the Ramsbottoms. While he appears to be a charming businessman and Wendolene Ramsbottom's betrothed, however, he is actually the cruel and sinister twin brother of Bill Cheesey Cheeseman. Having been banished from Wensleydale in the past for tampering during a cheese show, this leads to Chalky going down a dark path, in which he, with his right-hand man Preston, schemes to sabotage the cheese products of other cheese mongers as revenge for his exile.

Biography

Chalky Cheeseman used to live in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, England, together with his twin brother Bill Cheesey Cheeseman. While Bill is friendly and cheerful, Chalky, however, is the exact opposite of his brother, being cruel and evil.Thirty years ago, during the Wensleydale cheese show, he sabotaged the cheeses of other cheese mongers by lacing them with chalk. Consequently, this resulted in Chalky being banished from Wensleydale for his actions. Harboring a strong hatred of other cheese makers and their products, Chalky swore to get his revenge.

At some point, he met Wendolene Ramsbottom posing under the identity of "Rhett Leicester" and he managed to charm her, winning himself her love. Rhett moves into Ramsbottom hall, which Wendolene inherited from her late uncle along with his fortune. Rhett set up a small lab in a secret room behind the staircase of the castle where he conducted his experiments to prepare for his plot of revenge. Seeking to sabotage Wensleydale's cheese products and other cheese businesses, he has his henchmen, consisting of robotic scarecrows, spread powdered soap all over the pastures where the cows would graze, to make the powder part of the milk yield, as Rhett hopes.

As the milk, now mixed with the soap powder, would then be used to produce new batches of Wensleydale cheese, this would cause anyone who eats them to froth at the mouth, which would in turn, caused the Wensleydale cheese to go out of business. Thus,Rhett not only seeks to shut down other cheese products but to also ensure that his and Wendolene's own cheese product of Wendolenedale would remain standing as the "crumbliest and flakiest cheese in the world."
