The Chameleon's Army are the secondary antagonists of Kung Fu Panda 4. They serve as Chameleon's foot soldiers and enforcers.

Description[]

The Chameleon's Army is a large horde of komodo dragons loyal to Chameleon, serving as her foot soldiers, enforcers and personal guards in Juniper City. The komodo dragons are large and fearsome, with green scales, long tails, sharp teeth and claws, red eyes with yellow sclera, and long spikes along their large heads. They dress in fancy, brown, armored trousers and wield long, ornate spears.

History[]

The Chameleon's Army first appears when the heads of Juniper City's crime families gather together by order of the Chameleon (who is secretly disguised as one of them). The komodo dragons serve the crime bosses with miniature tea sets, and lift the Chameleon up onto the table when she reveals her true identity. When the Chameleon announces her intent to increase the crime bosses' monthly tribute to her, the bear crime boss refuses and knocks a teacup into the snout of one of the komodo dragons. The komodo dragons remain unfazed and watch silently as the Chameleon intimidates the crime bosses into obedience by shapeshifting into a massive elephant and pushing the bear crime boss down a flight of stairs.

The next day, the army forges a large number of iron cages for the Chameleon in preparation for a plan to summon deceased kung fu masters back from the Spirit Realm and imprison them in said cages after stealing their abilities.

When Po the kung fu panda and Zhen the fox thief infiltrate Juniper City, they witness several komodo dragons intimidating the citizens into giving up their money. Later, when the pair sneak to the Chameleon's fortress, they discover a large number of komodo dragons sleeping in front of the back door. They manage to sneak past them, but Zhen's bushy tail tickles Po's nose, nearly causing him to sneeze. Zhen stops the sneeze by blocking Po's nose, but this causes Po to fart. This wakes up the komodo dragons and they pursue Po and Zhen. Po gets traps in one of the Chameleon's cages, but manages to escape by digging under it, only to run into another squad of komodo dragons. The spear-wielding reptiles attack the panda, and although he holds his own at first he is eventually forced to retreat. The komodo dragons throw their spears at the fleeing panda, but miss and Po escapes by running out a door onto a rampart and then barring the door with one of the thrown spears. However, he then runs into two more komodo dragons who immediately attack him, but Po manages to throw them off the rampart.

Later, when the Chameleon summons Tai Lung from the Spirit Realm, she orders some of her komodo dragons to attack him. The komodo dragons obey, attempting to use their superior numbers to overwhelm Tai Lung, but the snow leopard defeats them all easily, knocking them down and paralyzing a few with his signature nerve strike. The Chameleon then shapeshifts into one of the komodos to lower Tai Lung's guard and steal his kung fu skills. She then locks him in a cage and revels in her success, with her beaten-up komodo dragons praising her. The Chameleon then summons all other villainous kung fu masters from the Spirit Realm, one by one, and drains them of their kung fu skills. The komodo dragons subsequently imprison them all in cages.

Meanwhile, the komodo dragons guarding the entrance to the Chameleon's fortress are attacked and defeated by Han's band of thieves. It is unknown what happened to the Chameleon's army afterwards.
