~ The Champion |
“ | We haven't been properly introduced. You should always know the man you're fighting. I'm the champion of the Killosseum. Do you know what that means? It means I'm undefeated in the most dangerous arena in the world. So you can run all you want, Nomad. But at some point, that road's going to run out. And then, it'll just be you and me. And after that, probably just me. You should also know that the same trick never works twice on me. | „ |
~ The Champion to the Nomad and Skout. |
“ | This is getting old, Nomad. Where I come from, the runners don't last long. It's kill or be killed in Toro's arena. It's the same out here, too. You just don't realize it yet! I was hoping the legends meant you were a true warrior, not a coward! I'm not going to let you call for help. Like I said, you and me! You have to fight! No matter where you hide, I'm always going to know where you are! | „ |
~ The Champion's breakdown. |
Governor Toro's Champion is a supporting antagonist of the Rooster Teeth animated web series Nomad of Nowhere. He is a superhuman soldier that serves under Toro's rule.
He is voiced by Ray Hurd (who also voiced Kizaru in One Piece and Rokurōta in Hell's Paradise).
History[]
Nothing is known about the Champion's past except that he is a soldier and servant of Toro. He is also presumably his champion in the Killosseum.
In "Eagle Canyon", Toro visits Don Paragon and tells him that he is sending his champion to the Oasis.
In "End of the Line", the Champion appears riding a chariot with Toro's emblem on it before Toth and the Dandy Lions. Toth realizes what this means and urges her team to hurry in finding the Nomad. The Champion pauses only to check his compass a few times, then continues on his way.
Meanwhile, the Nomad and Skout are on a train headed for the End of the Line, which is suddenly robbed by the Near-Sighted Bandits. As Skout and the Nomad reluctantly team up to battle the robbers, they suddenly see the Champion at the far end of the train tracks. He proceeds to break the rails and derail the train with his bare hands, causing it to crash. Skout and the Nomad jump out, and the Champion gives chase.
In "Compass", the Champion keeps giving chase and is seemingly always able to find Skout and the Nomad wherever they hide. The Nomad brings a rope to life to help them climb a cliff, but the Champion follows close behind, scaling the cliff with his bare hands. He chases them to a ghost town, where he tries to crush them with a boulder. When the two attempt to escape with the rope down a well, he cuts the rope and causes them to fall.
The Champion makes his way down into the mines after them, where Skout sees him using a magical compass that can track magical beings. He finds the rope and kills it before chasing down and confronting the Nomad. He mercilessly beats the Nomad, who tries to escape, but the Champion keeps using his compass to follow. The Champion corners the Nomad on a drop, but Skout pushes a minecart his way and knocks him off the drop to his presumed death.
Personality[]
The Champion is very stoic, stern, and serious. He has a fierce determination and drive that leads him to commit dangerous and destructive actions to get his prey. While he is loyal to Toro, he is also extremely egotistical and arrogant, seeing himself as the best with no equal.
