Champion Chief Kronon (1078 AE – 1330 AE) was a formidable ogre war chief in the Crystal Desert who became one of the Branded champions of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik. Once a dominant tribal leader of the ogres of Arah’s Spine, Kronon’s ambition and strength made him both feared and respected among his kin. However, his desire for greater power led to his downfall when he was transformed into a crystalline monstrosity by the Elder Dragon's corrupting breath.
As a Branded, Kronon became a mindless servant of Kralkatorrik, tasked with spreading the corruption of the Dragonbrand and annihilating all who stood in the Elder Dragon’s way.
As an ogre chief, Kronon was known for his dominating presence, primal cunning, and command of beasts. He believed in the ogre ideal of strength as authority and viewed his leadership as destiny. After being Branded, his mind was entirely overridden, his individuality erased, leaving behind only a monstrous echo of the proud leader he once was.
Biography[]
Champion Chief Kronon ruled an ogre tribe located near the northwestern fringes of the Crystal Desert in the late 13th century AE. Known for his brutal tactics and uncompromising authority, Kronon held his position through a mix of strength and charisma. Unlike many ogres who form transient leadership through strength of arms, Kronon built a semi-permanent tribal society that centered on obedience and domination of nearby creatures and lesser tribes.
In 1320 AE, when Kralkatorrik awakened and flew across the desert, he scorched a path of magical corruption in his wake, known as the Dragonbrand. Any creature caught in the path of his breath was twisted into crystalline extensions of his will—becoming Branded.
Chief Kronon and his warband stood their ground during the Elder Dragon’s passing, either out of defiance or ignorance of its power. His resistance was rewarded with utter transformation. Kronon was Branded, turned into a massive crystalline ogre fused with magic, rage, and obedience to Kralkatorrik’s will.
Reborn as Champion Chief Kronon, he became a terrifying force within the Dragonbrand. As a champion, he led Branded forces across the desert, spreading corruption and laying waste to any who tried to push back against the Brand’s expansion.
Kronon was eventually confronted and destroyed by heroes aligned with the Vigil, Durmand Priory, and Order of Whispers during early campaigns to study and contain the Dragonbrand. His death marked a key victory in disrupting the movements of Branded creatures in that region, though his legend remains a cautionary tale of pride before the fall.
