But now that those vile tracks are disappearing, the time is finally at hand! All we need now is… A little help-- hee hee-- from you, Your Highness! |

“ | Nyee hee hee! Thank you for your help. But you are too gullible, my friend. Don't you know that he will never give you new power? After all… You were once the servant of those disgusting spirits. What a buffoon you are. Thank you for your help, indeed, you blind fool! Now then, Your Majesty! Let us sacrifice these base creatures to your glory! | „ |

Chancellor Cole is the main antagonist of the 2009 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
He is a manipulative politician and an advisor to the Royal Family of New Hyrule, whom Princess Zelda is suspicious of. Revealed to be a demonic servant of the Demon King Malladus, Cole proceeds to murder Zelda and plots to use her body as a vessel to revive Malladus and conquer New Hyrule.
Appearance[]
Cole is a demon who disguises as a human by hiding his horns with two top hats. Upon revealing his true nature, he is shown to have black eyes, and two horns. Upon being possessed by Malladus, he transforms into a titanic beast who walks on all fours.
Personality[]
Cole is shown to be arrogant and impatient during his introduction, as he demands for the ceremony to be sped up and scolds Link for raising his head without permission. He later sarcastically advises Link to "polish his train" while also ominously hinting at the disappearance of the Spirit Tracks, and it is even stated that he refused to let Zelda leave the castle, especially when she started to become suspicious.
However, despite his arrogant nature, he is shown to be genuinely loyal to Malladus, and even cordially addresses him as "His Majesty" out of genuine respect.
Biography[]
Cole first appears at Link's Graduation Ceremony, and introduces himself as the royal adviser to Zelda, whom the princess is suspicious of. During the ceremony, he voices his impatience. After Link receives his certificate, Cole advises him to leave and "polish his train" while giving the boy a hint of his true nature.
Zelda soon boards Link's train which soon becomes derailed due to the disappearing tracks. The pair notice the Tower of Spirits breaking and the Demon Train coming to them. Cole reveals himself to be a demonic servant of the Demon King Malladus, and introduces his right-hand, Byrne, who later defeats Alfonzo with ease. Cole kills Zelda by painfully separating her spirit from her body, and departs to the Tower of Spirits.
He isn't seen again until after Link and Zelda defeat Byrne. At the top of the Tower of Spirits, he scolds Byrne for failing to defeat the children, and successfully revives Malladus, who knocks Byrne aside. Cole sadistically reveals to Byrne that he had been scammed as he and the Demon King never intended to grant him any power due to his past association with the Spirits of Good. The demons depart to the Dark Realm, while Link, Zelda and Anjean tend to Byrne.
After Link successfully defeats the Demon Train, he and Zelda confront Cole atop the remains. He threatens to give them "the punishment they deserve" and fights them with Malladus. The villains are defeated, and Malladus is forced out of Zelda's body. When Zelda successfully re-claims it, Malladus possesses Cole alive against his will instead and prepares to kill Link and Zelda and destroy the world afterwards. Fortunately, Malladus is successfully killed with the Lokomo Sword, and Cole (due to being the Demon King's host) is killed as well.
