Chandler is a major antagonist in the manga and anime series The Seven Deadly Sins. He is a high-ranking member of the Demon Clan, serving as Meliodas's master. He and Cusack come from a being known as the Original Demon.
Appearance[]
Chandler is shown to be a short round man with spiky green hair and beard. He has a demon mark on the right side of his head. In his true form his physique becomes very muscular, with his demon mark also enlarging and two bat-like wings sprouting on his back.
Personality[]
Chandler's most noticeable trait is his extreme fondness of his former student, Meliodas. He displays more fatherly traits towards Meliodas than Meliodas's actual father does. Unlike other demons, he is completely ignorant of Meliodas's betrayal towards the clan, believing instead he was kidnapped by Elizabeth. He is prone to throwing tantrums if anybody badmouths Meliodas. He is fully willing to kill anyone who gets in between him and his student with no hesitation.
Like many demons, Chandler is extremely sadistic and thinks nothing of the lives of other species. Despite this, he is willing to negotiate with the Seven Deadly Sins to hand over Meliodas in return for sparing their lives.
Biography[]
After the Original Demon betrayed the Demon King, it was split into two demons, that being Cusack and Chandler. At some point, Chandler became Meliodas's master and taught him his Full Counter ability. Eventually, he was sealed in the Coffin of Eternal Darkness with the rest of his clan.
3000 years later, he was revived in the Camelot castle. Him and Cusack joined forces with Zeldris who informed him of Meliodas's whereabouts. Chandler immediately headed to his students location without a second thought. Once arriving, he asked the Sins to hand him over and would kill them if they did not comply. This results in a fight, which is interrupted by the redeemed Gloxinia and Drole who stop Chandler temporarily, but are killed. Luckily for Chandler, once he catches up to the group, Meliodas wakes up in his Demon mode and willingly follows Chandler to Camelot, taking Elizabeth with him.
Powers and Abilities[]
Chandler is one of the most powerful demons seen in the series, being one of the toughest opponents the Sins ever faced (without the help of Meliodas and Escanor). His power level in his true form measures at 173,000. Although he is more of a mage than a physical fighter, in his true form his physique becomes very muscular and he is capable of causing an enormous fissure in the ground with a single slash of his sword cane.
He is one of the most versatile mages in the series, alongside Merlin. He is capable of using "Absolute Cancel", which according to Merlin, is rare that someone can use. He is also the one that taught Meliodas "Full Counter", however unlike Meliodas who can only use the ability on magical attacks, Chandler can use it on both magical and physical attacks. Another one of his most notable abilities is "Darkness", which allows him to cover the sky in an artificial night. Because demons are stronger at night, this essentially allows Chandler to give himself a constant boost in power.
