The Dark Sword Of Chaos

The Chaosium Sword (邪神剣, Jashinken; Sword of the Evil God), also known as the The Dark Sword Of Chaos, is an antagonist in Ninja Gaiden II. It is an evil empowered weapon forged by the Tribesman of the Dimension of Chaos grown from the bone of the Demon itself. It drains the life energy out of those it cuts, and is only fully activated by those that come from an immortal bloodline. It is the key to opening the legendary Gates of Darkness, and is kept at all times by the Dark Emperor of Darkness, Ashtar.

Biography

Past

After the shinobi clan destroyed the demon the tribesman from the world of chaos, they created a sword grown from the bone of the demon himself using dark magic by orders from the emperor of darkness Ashtar. His plan was to someday use the blood of the legendary Ninja Dragon to opened the gate of darkness and unleash his forces on the world.

Ninja Gaiden II

After Jaquio's defeat, Ashtar put his plan in motion as he was seen wielding the Chaosium Sword throughout his many encounters with Ryu. He used it to incapacitate him, injure Robert and even Stabbed Irene in order to gain more power Ryu was eventually able to defeat Ashtar who teleported the Dark Sword of Chaos to a hidden altar at the Tower of Lahja in order for the ritual to open the gate of darkness could begin. The sword was retrieved by none other than Jaquio, who had apparently survived the events of the previous installment and planned to use Ryu's blood to fully open the gate of darkness, but to no avail has was defeated once more. When his blood touched the sword, however, it reactivated it and used his body and him as a vessel to unleash a new more powerful demon who Ryu barely defeats. After closing the gate, the Dark Sword Of Chaos overloads and is destroyed, bringing an end to Ashtar's schemes.

Due to being made from the Demon, the Dark Sword of Chaos is quite powerful and its power continually increases with every person it cuts. It can also shoot lightning bolts from it's tip.

• Interestingly, the Sword's Japanese name is exactly the same of the Japanese name of Blade of the Archfiend.
