Chaozu (or Chiaotzu in the Funimation dub) is a Dragon Ball character and his best friend is Tenshinhan. He made his debut as the secondary antagonist in Episode 82 "The Rampage of InoShikaCho". He is a major antagonist and anti hero in the Tenshinhan Saga as well as the arch-rival turned friend of Krillin.
Biography[]
Although not physically strong, Chaozu is skilled with telekinetics and psychic powers. Chaozu posses power full telekinetic powers and was originally a villain who would swindle villagers, along with Tenshinhan. He later fights against Krillin in the Tenkaichi Budokai and loses due to Krillin's mathematics trickery. He is then seen telekinetically freezing Son Goku during his fight with Tenshinhan. When Tenshinhan told Chaozu to stop, Tsurusen'in threatened him if he did not before Muten Roshi blew the Crane Elder away with a Kamehameha wave. He then saw the evil of his master's ways and joined the Z Fighters.
Chaozu participates in finding the Dragon Balls to revive Krillin, who was killed by one of the Demon King Piccolo's children, but he was killed by Piccolo's energy blast. Chaozu is later revived by the Dragons Balls. He then participates in the next Tenkaichi Budokai before he is brutally beaten by a cybernetic Tao Pai Pai.
Chaozu is one of the Z Warriors who battle against the Saiyans, Vegeta and Nappa. He perishes after unsuccessfully using a self-destruct attack on Nappa. The Dragon Balls already restored his life so Shenlong could not do it again, so the Z Warriors ended up using the Namekian Dragon Balls so that Porunga could resurrect him instead.
Power[]
In the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, Chiaotzu was able to easily advance to the quarter finals (even almost killing an opponent in the preliminaries). He then fights Krillin and gives him a vary hard fight, only losing due to his lack of math knowledge. His power should be below 120 at that time as his master Tsuru-sennin who had that level was about to kill him with one blow.
In the next tournament, despite having trained intensely for 3 years, even climbing Korin tower, he easily lost to a Cybernetic Tao Pai Pai who had a power level of 210 in the preliminaries. However, he was stated to have surpassed Roshi who had a power level of 139. In the Saiyan Saga, he trained with Kami and Mr. Popo reaching a power level of 610 while fighting and dying against Nappa. That was his last fight in the manga and last official power level for him but since he trained with King Kai for nearly nine months and later continued to train with Tenshinhan it's implied that he became much stronger.
