Charles VanDyke is a major antagonist of season 8 of The Blacklist television series. He was the right-hand man of Neville Townsend who assisted him in his organization's criminal activity. He was responsible for murdering Elizabeth Keen in service of his leader's goals with the help and guidance from Marvin Gerard.

He is portrayed by Lukas Hassel.

Personality

VanDyke was shown to be completely loyal and dedicated to supporting and serving Neville Townsend. He was willing to commit crimes to further his leader's goal. VanDyke does not tolerate any form of disrespect from from anyone about Townsend and would firmly remind those he is in association with about Townsend's goals. He was not very trusting of Elizabeth Keen, similarly to Townsend. After Townsend's death, VanDyke was willing to listen to and follow a plan set out for him by Raymond Reddington's lawyer, Marvin Gerard, to murder Elizabeth Keen.

Biography

VanDyke appears along with Townsend as the latter was assessing Elizabeth Keen for an allegiance with their criminal organization. VanDyke often checks in with Townsend and helps facilitate assignments for him. VanDyke was present throughout many missions for Townsend's criminal enterprise. When Elizabeth Keen was officially accepted in as an ally to Townsend's organization, VanDyke would work alongside her in their mutual goal of trying to take down Raymond Reddington.

When Townsend gathered new information from Ivan Stepanov regarding N-13 and the Sikorsky Archive, Townsend decided to break up his allegiance to Keen and murder her in order to harm Raymond Reddington. VanDyke was proactive in pursuing Keen as she tried to escape from Townsend and his men. He tried to corner her when she tried to escape while Reddington tried to support her. After the Protean was able to kill off Keen's underlings and she rejoined with Reddington, Townsend was killed by Reddington when he followed him to the location of the Sikorsky Archive.

After his leader's death, VanDyke got into contact with Marvin Gerard. Gerard was against the relationship Reddington had with Keen and wanted to kill Keen in order to change Reddington in his own vision. VanDyke agreed to join Gerard in murdering Keen to honor Townsend's goal. After Keen unknowingly devoured a tracking device, VanDyke was able to know about Keen's location and followed her to an area near the side of the street. As Keen was facing Reddington and was about to shoot him on his own request, Keen is shot from the back by VanDyke which resulted in her death. VanDyke is subsequently shot at multiple times by Reddington, in response, killing him.
