Charlie 'Tubbs' Savage is a fictional character and supporting antagonist of the British Soap Opera EastEnders, appearing in that role only from 2019 itself.
He was portrayed by Tayla Kovacevic Ebong.
Biography[]
Charlie Savage, nicknamed Tubbs, was known to be a notorious loan shark who befriended local resident Ben Mitchell ever since they became prison cellmates at the time Ben was jailed for murdering his former babysitter Heather Trott back in 2012.
In 2019, Tubbs was summoned by Ben to help with his plans. This involved Charlie being ordered by Ben to inform him on the deadline payment for fellow neighbour Karen Taylor, especially as Ben's sister Louise was romantically engaged to Karen's eldest son Keanu at the time.
Soon enough Tubbs was assigned by Ben to monitor another neighbour, Martin Fowler, and have him raid the house of a woman who owes money. Charlie and Martin realise that they’ve been set up and Martin brutally attacks one the men. Charlie and Ben are arrested when Martin confesses to policeman Jack Branning about their criminal activities. However, Ben and Tubbs are released; later on Ben retaliates by ordering Tubbs to lead a gang in tormenting Martin, which they do by dangling Martin over a railway bridge.
Later on, when Ben learns that his boyfriend Callum Highway wishes to become a police officer, Ben decided to retire from his life of crime and hands over his business to Tubbs out of respect. They soon part ways and Tubbs leaves the square for good.
