Biography[]
In 2021, Charlie the Gorilla lived at Evergreen Zoo, until one day he was killed and infected by a Butterfly, which then took control of Charlie’s body. The possessed gorilla escaped from the zoo and made its way to Glan Tai Bottling Company, where the employees had also been taken over by Butterflies, and they distributed amber fluid, that is Butterflies only source of food. Following his disappearance, the zoo released a public statement claiming that Charlie had been stolen, having no idea how did this happened. Evergreen media outlets, including KWUE News Station and The Evergreen Sentinel, also reported the mysterious disappearance of the gorilla.
When the team led by Clemson Murn (secretly the butterfly named Ik Nobe Llok, that rebeled against rest of Butterfly) arrived at Glan Tai Bottling Company in search of the amber fluid, the factory being both the supplier and distributor of the only substance that keeps Butterflies alive, they were ambushed by Charlie. Deep inside the facility, Emilia Harcourt and Vigilante were taken by surprise as the gorilla attacked them, forcing them to call for help before Charlie struck again, this time targeting Leota Adebayo.
Peacemaker rushed in to help, opening fire on the gorilla, but Charlie hurled him into a set of shelves, and Harcourt’s gunfire only enraged him further. The gorilla slammed Harcourt into computer screens, and just as he was about to kill Peacemaker, Adebayo opened fire, diverting his attention. Charlie charged toward her, but Vigilante stabbed him in the lower back, and after that, Peacemaker climbed onto Charlie’s back, only for the gorilla to slam him down onto a table, but before Charlie could finish him off, John Economos burst in with a chainsaw, slicing through the gorilla’s chest and killing him instantly.
The incident strengthened the team’s bond, especially between Peacemaker and Economos, and team named themselves the 11th Street Kids. Realizing that Charlie had been under the control of a Butterfly, the group concluded that the creatures were capable of infecting not just humans, but other living beings as well.
Trivia[]
- Charlie may be a reference to Sgt. Gorilla, whose first name was also Charlie, from the Star-Spangled War Stories comic series.
