Charmaine Diyoza is one of the main antagonists (alongside Paxton McCreary) in the fifth season of the CW show The 100 as well as the leader of Eligius Prisoners. However, she became a recurring protagonist in the sixth and seventh season.
She was portrayed by Ivana Miličević.
Biography[]
Past[]
In the past, Diyoza was a much wanted terrorist before the nuclear apocalypse that wiped out Earth. Then, she became a prisoner of Eligius IV but led an uprising and took control of the ship to go to Earth. Despite being a dreaded criminal, Diyoza will later redeem herself by allying with Wonkru to defeat McCreary and his group. In addition, she will learn the friendship with Octavia and be very protective of herself and her future daughter, Hope.
Season 5[]
She, McCreary, the pilot Shaw, and the other prisoners land on Earth after the Second Nuclear Apocalypse. They quickly spot Clarke whom they capture and interrogate. They manage to get her to talk when the prisoners are close of Madi and discover that the Spacekru is back. Thinking that Clarke lied, Diyoza tortures her by putting an electric collar on her. She manages to make a deal with Bellamy who threatens to kill all prisoners since Eligius IV. In the next episode, Diyoza has Raven and John Murphy captured and Raven secretly hacked into the computer system, preventing the missiles from being launched. She eventually realizes, because of Echo, that it was Shaw who disabled the missiles and tortured him the same way Clarke did.
During a discussion with Kane, she reveals that she is pregnant and that she will name the child "Hope". Tensions between Diyoza's group and McCreary's group escalate after the latter learns of the deal to hand him over to Wonkru. Because of Murphy, a fight is started and Diyoza neutralizes all the opposing men before fleeing into the woods with Kane and the others. Hidden in a cave, Diyoza is now plotting against McCreary along with Wonkru and Spacekru.
Thanks to Spacekru's scouts, Diyoza sees that McCreary is using the battle plan that she herself has drafted. Kane and Diyoza therefore decide to indulge McCreary and help him defeat Octavia. She is then imprisoned aboard the Gagarin where McCreary tortures Shaw and Raven so that one of them agrees to pilot. Outside, Wonkru has the upper hand and McCreary decides to drop the missiles on the valley. Diyoza must then stay on board with Wonkru and the Prisoners while the Damocles event begins. She then quickly chats with Octavia saying that they are both "snakes" and that she understands her thirst for power.
Season 6[]
Diyoza is awoken from cryogenic sleep by Raven as residents of Sanctum infiltrate the ship. Together and with Madi, they neutralize them and Diyoza is then part of the second crew that descends on planet Alpha. While guarding the Gagarin, the Children of Gabriel attack her, Madi and Gaia but are rescued by Echo, Bellamy, Raven and Octavia.
Later, Diyoza travels to the village of Sanctum, during the reign of Russell Lightbourne and his wife. However, Diyoza is quickly banned due to her past crimes despite protests from others. In the woods, Diyoza is approached by Jade and guards to make a deal that will allow her baby to grow up in Sanctum. Despite Octavia's thwarting, the deal is maintained and Diyoza allies with her to find the Children of Gabriel and kill their leader. Along the way, they find themselves in a ground that buries them and Xavier, the leader of the extremists offers to help them if they tell them who are Nightbloods in Sanctum. Due to the Anomaly, Octavia has her aging hand, making it weak, and Xavier comes to their aid a second time. While treating Octavia's hand, the trio decide to investigate the Anomaly and Diyoza discovers that Xavier is none other than the Old Man. Along the way, as they get closer and closer to the Anomaly, Diyoza hallucinates and sees Hope guiding her through the time wave. After which, her fate remains unknown.
Season 7[]
Thanks to Hope who grew up on Skyring, we understand that she, Octavia and Diyoza have made a new life although Octavia wants to leave. Four years later, Disciples arrive and kidnap Octavia and Diyoza to go to Bardo. There, Diyoza is trained by the Disciples, led by Anders during the Sheperd's absence. Imprisoned, she manages to free herself by killing a guard and finds Hope, Octavia, Echo and Gabriel.
Later, Clarke arrives on the planet with her friends and all together try to find a way to leave. However, they must stop Echo from spreading Gen-9 which will commit genocide as she wants to avenge Bellamy's "death". They track her down and are joined by Anders and the Disciples who decide to punish Echo unless Clarke gives the final code to start the Last War. That's when Hope slits Anders' throat and attempts to spread Gen-9 on her own. Diyoza prevents the drop from falling into the humidification system as her begins to crystallize. As everyone leaves the room, Diyoza tells Hope not to waste her luck and to do better than her in the future, before dying entirely crystallized.
