Charon (Russian: Харон) is one of the two overarching antagonists (Alongside C-Consciousness) of the Ukrainian FPS Survival Horror video game franchise S.T.A.L.K.E.R..
He is the leader of Monolith, a quasi-religious cult comprised of former stalkers brainwashed into serving as the Common Consciousness' elite guards to protect the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant from being invaded by stalkers around the Zone. He serves as the right-hand and the enforcer of the C-Consciousness.
Despite being the "mastermind" behind the Monolith and C-Consciousness's right-hand, he doesn't play any role in the game, nor he appears in other parts of the series and even can be entirely avoided altogether.
Personality[]
Despite his lack of dialogue or any type of communication, except for the time where he attacks Strelok, his personality can be inferred through his actions and the nature of the fraction itself.
Charon is a deeply religious to the point of fanaticism yet strategic and a cold leader. Just like the rest of the Monolith, Charon is mind-controlled by C-Consciousness. However, unlike other lunatics, Charon is a trusted figure to C-Consciousness, Charon embodiments the fanaticism and the absolute devotion to their beliefs.
Appearance[]
Charon wears an exoskeleton with the Monolith's colors on it, which are brown and green with metal plates of the exoskeleton on it
Background[]
While the game itself doesn't give any information about Charon's past, a short bio from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl's game files, before it was omitted, shows that he is the leader of the Monolith. No other info revealed.
Charon throughout the whole game, even during the invasion to Pripyat remains in the basement of the Palace of Culture also known as the Monolith's Headquarters. He doesn't get in contact with any other member of the Monolith except for the other monolithian-masters.
Powers & Skills[]
- Direct Connection with the Monolith: Charon escorts the orders of the holy Monolith itself, which are, in reality, C-Consciousness's.
- Leadership: Charon is the leader of the Monolith Fraction, the biggest and the strongest Fraction in the whole Zone.
- Gunmanship: Charon uses a sniper rifle Vintar, which makes the only named character that uses this rifle in-game.
- Exoskeleton: Charon wears the Monolith version of the armor suit Exoskeleton.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Monolith soldier in the game who has a nickname, besides Brodyaga's Group
