“ | Hello Stripperella! Guess who's out of prison and back in town? | „ |
~ Cheapo. |
Cheapo is a supporting antagonist in the superhero adult animated comedy series Stripperella. He is a thief who works with henchmen to commit robberies with as few resources as possible. He appears in two episodes.
He was voiced by Maurice LaMarche.
Personality[]
“ | Be careful Stripperella, Cheapo is viciously cheap. Deviously cheap. He's viciously devious, and he's cheap. | „ |
~ Chief Stroganoff |
As his name suggests, Cheapo is very cheap. He uses minimal resources in his schemes, and chooses to rob cheap items rather than scarce or expensive items. This suggests that he is not greedy, but rather enjoys robbing for his personal enjoyment. He is arrogant and strong-willed, seeing himself as above everybody else, including his henchmen, as he very rarely accepts suggestions from them. In addition, he is usually short-tempered with his henchmen due to their stupidity. He is more than willing to kill anyone who gets in his way, as expressed with Stripperella on multiple occasions. He is competent with strategic planning, but his greatest weakness is his cheapness, ironically, as his lack of resources often cost him success in his plans at the hands of Stripperella.
Biography[]
Cheapo makes his first appearance in the episode "Crime Doesn't Pay... Seriously, It Really Doesn't", and commits an armed robbery at the 89 Cent Store. He holds the store at gunpoint and takes a box of wine and a bottle of shampoo, and leaves his signature in the form of a cent symbol on the cashier's forehead. Later on, he is seen at a diner collecting tomato ketchup from sachets. He officially announces to Stripperella, who is on live television, that he is out of prison and planning to commit his "greatest crime yet", and that she will be killed if she attempts to intervene. One of his henchmen suggests that they spend more money on resources for their crimes, as they have to share a firearm and have minimal bullets. Cheapo becomes stressed out, and suggests they go on a crime spree to take his mind off of it.
During their crime spree, he and his henchmen steal a load of pennies from a bowl in a store and from a wishing well. While there is a protest occurring outside of a "fake fur" store, they steal from it while nobody is looking. When they reach his car, they are exhausted and his henchmen ask to park closer next time. As they hear a police siren, Cheapo is not worried as his parking meter still has three minutes left. Back at his trailer, he announces to his henchmen that they will be stealing the world's largest cubic zirconium, valued at almost three hundred dollars. He expects that only Stripperella will be in the way of stopping his success, and thinks about putting a bounty on her head for eight dollars. Ultimately he concludes that they have to do the dirty work themselves.
Cheapo is next seen robbing a recycling plant, which Stripperella learns and confronts him. He has a remote control to a magnetic crane, which he uses to attract Stripperella's metallic belt, and trap her in a giant glass bottle. He floods the bottle with pennies in an attempt to kill her, and flees to The World's Largest Items Museum. At the museum, he reaches the zirconium with ease, and just as he is about to steal it, Stripperella appears. She fights his henchmen, defeats them, and leaves them to be arrested as Cheapo flees. Because his car is too slow, Stripperella catches up, and he tries to kill her with his three bullets. His car runs out of fuel on a bridge, and accidentally drops the zirconium off of it as he is confronted. Stripperella jumps off and catches it, and uses her equipment to get back up, and tie Cheapo up for him to be arrested.
He appears once more in the episode "Cheapo by the Dozen", having either escaped his arrest or got out of prison. In his caravan, his henchmen are crafting counterfeit pennies. Using the current money they had, it would be spent on committing their next crime in Las Vegas.
Cheapo travelled with his henchmen to Las Vegas on a bus, carrying them in a suitcase to save money on additional seats. He announced their plan was to rob The Copper Nugget, a casino with one hundred copper bricks to be used for their counterfeit pennies. Stripperella learned that he placed an advertisement in the newspaper to hire eleven criminals to assist in his robbery, and is ordered to infiltrate the meeting under the name Robin Stuff.
At the meeting, he announced to his fellow criminals what their plan would be, as Erotica under her false alias, arrived late. As Cheapo wanted somebody who was capable of curling up into a ball, Erotica convinced him to be let on the team by demonstrating her ability to do so. As starts to talk about their heist, his reward for each criminal would be one copper brick each, valued at nearly sixteen dollars. They express that the reward is not enough, but Cheapo is unmoved and everybody leaves besides his two henchmen and Erotica, still trying to infiltrate.
Outside the casino, he discusses his plan. Erotica is interrupted by her friend and colleague Giselle, who unwittingly makes Cheapo suspicious, and she is knocked out. She is taken to a warehouse where his henchmen prepare to kill her by "burying her in dessert." He actually intended for her to be buried in the desert, and communicated it improperly, but continues with the improvised plan anyway. She is buried in a giant ice cream sundae and the three head off in a helicopter to rob the casino.
They are successful in their plan, but Stripperella arrives just in time before they flee in the helicopter. She grabs onto a landing skid as he takes off. He attempts to get her to let go by going faster and having her crash into a sign, but fails. Stripperella pulls out a silver dollar and flips it in front of his window, distracting him, as he wants his hands on it. He successfully catches it, but crashes his helicopter into a roller coaster, trapping them in place and causing them to spin. His plan was foiled yet again, but his fate remains unknown.
