The Checkmate Four are the four most powerful members of the Fangire race and the main antagonists of Kamen Rider Kiva.
History[]
1986[]
The Checkmate Four was originally comprised of the Bat Fangire, Swallowtail Fangire, Lion Fangire and Maya/Pearlshell Fangire. However, after Maya fell in love with Otoya Kurenai and helped him escape when he was captured by the Fangires, King kicked her out of the Checkmate Four and revoked her title as "Queen".
2008[]
By 2008, with King's death only Rook and Bishop remained as members of the Checkmate Four. However, they eventually recruit a new King and Queen in the form of Taiga Nobori and Mio Suzuki respectively.
