Cheetah People

The Cheetah People are supporting antagonists of the Doctor Who story "Survival". They were humanoid aliens that resembled cheetahs.

History[]

The Cheetah People inhabited the Cheetah Planet, which they existed in a symbiotic relationship with. The planet somehow increased the animal instincts in its inhabitants, making them savage and causing them to hunt for food. At least some of them had once had human appearance but had been mutated. Humans who came to their world could be similarly infected, developing cat-like eyes and fangs. The Cheetah People had a similarly symbiotic relationship with the kitlings, creatures that resembled black cats and which fed on the remains of their victims. The kitlings travelled to other worlds in search of the prey, which the Cheetah People would then teleport back to their world to hunt.

The Master became trapped on their world and gained some influence over the Cheetah People while partly mutating into one. The Cheetah People began hunting on Earth, abducting several young people from Perivale, including three of Ace's old friends (Stevie, Midge and Shreela) and three other young men, Derek, Stuart and Dave. Most of them were hunted and killed. Ace was also transported there, followed by the Doctor and Territorial Army Sergeant Paterson. The Doctor attempted to gather the survivors together: Both he and the Master realized the planet was dying. Its symbiotic relationship with the Cheetah People meant that when they fought each other it damaged the planet.

The Doctor's attempts were interrupted by a milkman being transported to the planet and attacked and presumably killed by the Cheetah People, leaving the other survivors to scatter. Two Cheetah People fought over Midge, leading to him killing one of them as it lay wounded. Both Ace and Midge ultimately became infected by the planet enough to teleport everyone back to Earth.

The Master later took the Doctor back to the dying planet where they saw the Cheetah People teleport away to parts unknown. Another Cheetah Person briefly visited Earth to remove the bodies of Midge and another Cheetah Person, Karra. The Doctor noted the place had changed but the hunt would go on.
