Child is a major antagonist in the fourth season of Young Justice, serving as the main antagonist of Zatanna's arc. She is a Lord of Chaos who came to Earth to replace Klarion and incite mass death and destruction on a global scale.
She was voiced by Erika Ishii.
Personality[]
Underneath her calm and polite demeanor, Child is shown to be exceptionally cruel and sadistic with vested interest in causing chaos. To the extent of her chaotic goals, she has no limitations to what atrocities she is willing to commit for her own interests. Similarly to Klarion, she is willing to cause chaos for her own personal entertainment. Child is notably sadistic and arrogant by how she laughs, mocks, torment, and attack the enemies who opposes her.
Child is openly against any ideas of order and stability. She is shown to have spite towards Klarion for his partnership towards Vandal Savage and The Light. Due to his relationship to Vandal Savage and the latter's need for domination, Child views Klarion as an incompetent Lord of Chaos who is no different from the Lords of Order. She takes the time to insult Klarion at every opportunity during their interaction and shows glee in seeing him in anguish. For instance, Child has her anchor, Flaw, break Klarion's anchor, Teekl's, neck in front of Klarion to make him cry before having him disconnected from the physical plane. Child does not have a high opinion of anyone other than herself. While on Earth, she views everyone from Klarion, a Lord of Chaos like herself, to her own enemies such as Zatanna and Doctor Fate as below her in power. In addition, she is shown to not have any concern or fear towards any of her enemies despite their level of powers and the fact that she is facing multiple enemies on her own.
Child expresses curiosity over human life on Earth. However, she expresses morbid interest in the human form and physiology by cruelly dismembering an innocent security guard to see what human beings look like from the inside. In spite of her curiosity, she maintains a low opinion of human beings and was content in killing off all humans on Earth. Similarly to Klarion, she is shown to take interest in immoral acts committed by others by how she acknowledges Mary's decision to take life force from her surroundings to empower herself.
Despite her constant arrogant demeanor and fearless personality, she is shown to express actual concern when her anchor, Flaw, was defeated. She does not express any care over her anchor's fate, but was more concerned with no longer having an anchor that can keep her bound to the physical plane. Similarly to Klarion, she panics when she realize that she is forced to return to her primordial form when her anchor is destroyed.
Powers and Abilities[]
As a Lord of Chaos, Child is a powerful magic user who has powers that rivals the immensely powerful Klarion and other opponents like Doctor Fate. She is noted to be an extremely powerful and formidable enemy by all her enemies including Doctor Fate and was treated as a serious threat to Earth unlike any other supervillain that has appeared. She is shown to have mastery over her magical abilities to the point of overwhelming Klarion, Doctor Fate, Zatanna, and her other enemies.
She posses the powers of molding elements to create a powerful anchor made of solid material to levitation. In addition, she has the power to deflect powerful attacks from Doctor Fate and unleashing powerful and explosive attacks that is capable to destroying a tower. She has the ability to terraform large areas of the earth by summoning a volcano, manipulating the temperature to cause the ice caps to melt, potency to sink an entire island in battle, and alter the laws of physics by reversing the direction of gravity.
In battle, she is shown to regenerate immediately from life-threatening attacks such as being slashed in half by Klarion and returning to her original form without any issues. Similarly she is also capable to recovering instantly from a magic-based attack that can separate her skin, muscles, neural tissues, and skeleton a part from one another and regenerate with little to no challenge.
Despite her limitless powers and abilities, similarly to Klarion, she needs an anchor to stay and interact on the physical plane. When Flaw was shattered and defeated, Child was forced to take on her primordial form and could no longer have any influence on the physical plane.
Biography[]
Child landed on Earth and sent out a signal across the globe that caught the attention of a couple people such as Zatanna and Klarion. She appears on Roanoke Island to start her chaotic acts until Klarion confronts her.
