The Children of Hargon are an evil sect led by the corrupt cleric Hargon and the major antagonistic faction in Dragon Quest II and Dragon Quest Builders 2.
History[]
Dragon Quest II[]
To aid Hargon in summoning Malroth, the Children of Hargon attacked the Kingdom of Moonbrooke, killing most of its population. The Princess of Moonbrooke, a descendant of The Legendary Hero, Erdrick, manages to escape the assault but ends up cursed into a dog form. An injured knight manages to escape the burning castle and deliver the news to the King of Midenhall before perishing, so the King sends his son, also a descendant of Erdrick, to go after Hargon and stop his plans.
The Prince of Midenhall joins forces with the Prince of Cannock (also a descendant of Erdrick), and the two break the curse upon the Princess of Moonbrooke, who also joins them. The trio travels the world and defeat all of Hargon's minions, eventually confronting Hargon himself in his castle at the Rendarak region. Upon being defeated, Hargon offers his own life as sacrifice to Malroth, which is finally resurrected as Hargon dies.
Dragon Quest Builders 2[]
Despite of Hargon's death, the remnant of Children of Hargon would still be active, and would kidnap and kill any Builders they caught. In Hargon's World of Illusion, the Children of Hargon would force their beliefs into the humans habitants by forcing them into not building stuff and to destroy things instead. With that, the Children of Hargon has changed their beliefs into serving Hargon. However, at some point, into order to awaken Malroth, Hargon, now as a spirit, would arrange a Builder to meet an amnesia Malroth. However, bringing the Builder to the World of Illusions would cause the humans to start to abandon Hargon's teaching, and ultimately leading to the defeat of Children of Hargon.
