Chiyou is a minor antagonist in the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok.
He is the main antagonist of Qin Shi Huang's first Flashback during the Seventh Round of the Ragnarok Tournament.
Chiyou is a Demon God who once controlled the whole of China. He was the one to give the future rulers the task of governing the country, but in exchange he required a huge sacrifice in Human lives.
Appearance[]
Chiyou has the appearance of a large, muscular Demon, with a pair of horns on either side of his head and a tendril for his beard. He also has bandages around his horns and arms. His tattoos cover his face and chest.
Personality[]
Chiyou is an evil and arrogant Demon who likes to eat Human flesh. He believes that anyone who wants to be a ruler in China needs his permission to rule and should kneel before him. He can't stand anyone who disrespects him, and intends to kill him for it.
Biography[]
Chiyou settles in ancient China and people start worshiping him as the God of War who invented the five tools of warfare (the crossbow, the sword, the halberd, the spear and the armor). Chiyou begins to demand that all who wish to be King in China offer sacrifices to him and kneel before him, and if they refused, Chiyou would dethrone and kill them. Chiyou continues like this for hundreds of years, until the arrival of Qin Shi Huang.
When the King of Qin comes to see him, Chiyou demands a sacrifice of ten thousand from him and orders him to kneel before him to become Emperor. When Qin Shi Huang refuses and tricks Chiyou into eating a soldier made of dirt, even claiming that all the kings who passed before him weren't real kings, Chiyou gets angry and decides to kill Qin Shi Huang. After a fight that lasted six days, Chiyou was defeated and killed and from that moment the history of China passed into the hands of man, with Qin Shi Huang becoming the first Emperor of reunified China.
Powers and Abilities[]
Demon Strength and Endurance: As a Demon, Chiyou possesses physical abilities far greater than most Humans, to the point of being worshiped as a God of War in China and having fought against Qin Shi Huang on equal terms for six whole days, before being defeated and killed. Chiyou was able to push himself to the physical and mental limit throughout his fight against Qin Shi Huang. Furthermore, being a Demon, Chiyou does not age or feel the passage of time.
Arm Creation: Chiyou can create additional arms at will. With extra limbs, Chiyou increases his accuracy in combat, using his extra arms to either attack or defend. These arms can also disappear if Chiyou wishes. Thanks to this, Chiyou prefers unarmed combat rather than using Divine Weapons to his advantage.
Trivia[]
- Like all other members of the Chinese Pantheon, Chiyou also really existed: he was a tribal leader of the Nine Li tribe in ancient China, and is now honored and worshiped as the God of War and one of the three legendary founding fathers of China.
