Cho Kyuhwan was a minor antagonist of the webtoon, light novel, and anime series Solo Leveling. He was a lizard-type hunter and a member of Hwang Donsuk's striking squad, working as his right hand.
Personality[]
Like all the members of his team, Cho is a cruel and selfish man that enjoys taking on weaklings. He showed no regard for getting rid of Sun-Jinwoo and Yoo Jinho.
Biography[]
Cho makes his appearance along with other guild members when his leader Hwang Donsuk welcomes Sun-Jinwoo to join their dungeon raid.
As Jinwoo agrees that he is an E-Rank, he and another member mocks him for his given nickname as the "Weakest Hunter". Hwang asks Jinwoo to sign a contract before Cho and the other men impatiently tells Hwang to enter the dungeon. Arriving at the gate of the dungeon, the group is surprised by its size. Cho asks Hwang if it is a really the gate of a C-Rank dungeon they are about to enter to which he says that he is sure. Once inside the dungeon, Hwang tells Cho to light on the place. The squad is surprised to see how quiet the place appears to be. Suddenly, Jinwoo screams and tells the squad that insect-type beasts are incoming from above them. A wave of insects arrives to attack the team.
Cho launches a magic attack at the insect with the other members fighting the others. Moments later, after having all the beasts killed, Hwang tells that the dungeon might take them a while to deal with. Cho and another member examines the corpse of the insect. He then tells Hwang to come and take a look at some of the beast's bodies. Hwang then realizes that they are no killed by anyone by their side but rather by another monster that resides in this dungeon. The group continues their exploration and takes a rest.
Cho is seen chatting with Hwang. Later on, the group comes across numerous corpses of beasts that are already killed by something else. Hwang suddenly stops and tells Cho to light on in front of them. The group is shocked to see a large hallway of spider webs with cocoons of beasts around the place. Realizing it is the boss' lair, Hwang warns the group to get ready before discovering a bunch of mana crystals. Cho states that the mana stones have less mana than essence stones they get from hunting magic beasts but they although cheaper.
He also notes that selling the minerals could make them an extremely large amount of money. Another member then questions Hwang if his younger brother would be jealous of their discoveries to which Cho tells him to not ask in this situation. Yoo Jinho, another member interrogates the group about how they plan on sharing the mana crystals after having not only included how essence stone will be distributed not other collected resources. Hwang reassures him that the crystal will be equally given to each of the squad members. The group then discovers the boss being a gigantic spider that is sleeping right on top of them.
Seeing it's taking a nap, they plans on gathering the mana stones as the boss is doing so and asks one of his men if they have brought the mining equipments and answers that they had forgotten in their cars. The group leaves the boss' lair after telling Jinwoo and Yoo to stay in the lair and guard the stones until they come back to bring the equipment to mine the crystals. Once outside, Hwang immediately tells Cho to block the exit of the boss' lair. An explosion is then caused, which also caused the boss to be woken up.
Outside, Cho tells that his explosion definitely caused the boss to woke up. Hwang mentions that not even he could handle it seeing its frightening appearance. Moments later, the group reopens all the stones blocking the entrance but is surprised to see Jinwoo and Yoo still alive with even the boss defeated. Cho questions that maybe the boss was not as strong as it appeared and that Yoo could be the one that have taken it out. Hwang tells Yoo that he has two options; to kill Jinwoo in order to join his squad or get killed. Yoo stands in front of Jinwoo, raising his sword toward the group.
Seein Yoo refuses the offer, the group walks toward the two hunters. Cho use his fire magic to launch an attack at Jinwoo, sending him crashing int to he wall but survives. The members are surprised to see that Cho's attack did not killed Jinwoo instantly. Jinwoo himself also states that he went full power on his magic and questions if he had missed his shot. Jinwoo stands up and walks toward the squad.
One of the guild members walks to Jinwoo and warps his arm around his shoulder. Soon after he is beheaded by Jinwoo with his dagger. The group is panicked seeing one of their men who was a D-Rank was killed by an E-Rank. Hwang orders Cho to attack him again and warns him to be careful. He is instantly killed by Jinwoo who dodges his attack before having his body getting slashed into numerous pieces by the false ranker.
