You fucking murderer!
~ Choi Yoon-Jae's last words to Pyeon Sangwook.

Choi Yoon-Jae is a major antagonist of the first season of the Sweet Home (2020) live action.

He is a child predator who managed to get away with his crimes until being kidnapped by Pyeon Sang-wook. Once the monster outbreak occurred, he managed to escape captivity and live among the rest of the survivors at Green Home while hiding his true nature. He eventually got caught by Sang-wook who brutally murdered him with a hammer and fed him to a certain monster.

He is portrayed by Ko Gun-Han.

Appearance[]

Yoon-Jae is a young Korean man with medium-length wavy hair. He has a noticeably innocent-looking face, which he uses to mask his true nature. Throughout the series, he has several face scars caused by Sang-wook. He was shown wearing a light cyan shirt.

Personality[]

On the outside, Yoon-Jae appears to be kind and patient. He is somewhat awkward and smiles in a dorky manner. He is also mysterious and frequently avoids questions. He is also very cowardly and easily viewed as a victim, making it easy to feel bad for him when Sang-wook tortures and hunts him.

I asked him where my daughter was. He said she was here and gave this to me. That bastard kidnapped my daughter! Look at her smiling because she doesn't realize anything is wrong. She asked him to take a nice picture for me. (some sentences later) That son of a bitch is still alive and roaming free! I have no idea where my daughter is! Why are the police stopping me? Why? How is that the law?
~ The father of one Yoon-Jae's abducted children explaining how he gets away with his crimes to Sang-wook.

In actuality, he is a cruel and manipulative liar who kidnapped children and did god-knows-what to them. He is very cruel, shown by how he mocked a man by sending photos of his daughter, knowing he can't do anything about it. He managed to get away with these crimes without any suspicion, even having the police defend him against his accuser who's daughter he kidnapped. Even the children he kidnapped didn't think anything was wrong when he took them.

Yoon-Jae would make his victims trust him by acting like a big brotherly figure to children. In his room, he is shown to have taken pictures of the children he's kidnapped, keeping it as a collection. The first few shows them smiling together at events but slowly turns into the children looking beaten and bruised showing how he slowly tortured them before killing them. It is incredibly likely there are pedophilic aspects to this to as one of the girls as her pants removed in a photo.

Yoon-Jae will do anything to hide suspicion of himself and defeat Sang-wook. The first few episodes, he is shown desperately trying to run away and defend himself against him. He first does this by holding a weapon. He later gets a better idea and tries to become a monster like Hyun, creepily begging him for advice. He talks to him in a somewhat flirtatious manner, indicating is pedophilic nature (offer him candy and calls him "sunshine"). Hyun is immensely creeped out by him.

He makes it very clear that he feels no remorse for his actions. Although he's aware what he is doing is a crime, he still thinks of himself as the victim when he's kidnapped by Sang-wook. He tells Sang-wook he didn't do anything wrong. Whether this was an intentional lie or he outright believed this is unknown. While dying, he mocks Sang-wook for being a murderer with little-to-no emotion.
