Chom Frey Kaa is the main antagonist of the Twilight quadrilogy in the comic series Star Wars Republic. He is a corrupt Galactic Republic senator and the mastermind of the glitteryll conspiracy.
Biography[]
Chom Frey Kaa was one of the three representatives of the Gaulus sector in the Galactic Senate, alongside Orn Free Taa and Connus Trell. However, Kaa was also the main financial backer of the production of glitteryll, an illegal memory-erasing drug. In order to boost the project's profits, Kaa approached Twi'lek criminal Pol Secura and asked him to smuggle the drugs onto the black market to be sold.
With Kaa's backing, Pol was able to capture Jedi knights Aayla Secura (his niece) and Quinlan Vos, who were investigating him, and drugged them with glitteryll before dumping Quin on the planet Nar Shaddaa. Kaa then placed a bounty on Quin's head, interested in seeing who would be the first to claim it. However, Quin regained some of his memories and returned to Ryloth, at which point Kaa ordered Secura and Asanté Vos to kill him. However, this failed and Quin tortured Secura until he admitted Kaa's involvement in the conspiracy.
After discovering this, Quin and bounty hunter Vilmarh Grahrk headed to Coruscant to capture him, but no sooner had they landed than Grahrk shot Quin with a stun gun and brought him to Kaa in order to claim the reward. After Quin was delivered Kaa gloated about Quin's failure to stop him and prepared to kill him, but was betrayed by Grahrk, who threw Quin his lightsabre, allowing him to break free of his restraints and easily subdue Kaa. Just as Quin was about to execute him in revenge for his treatment, he was interrupted by the arrival of Jedi master Mace Windu, who revealed he had placed a recording device in Grahrk's droid, which recorded Kaa's confession. Kaa was promptly taken into custody to stand trial before the Supreme Court.
Unbeknownst to anyone, Kaa was in fact a mere pawn in Darth Sideous's plan to turn Quin to the dark side, which had begun to succeed, as Quin had almost given into his rage and killed the defenceless Kaa before Windu stopped him.
