~ Chris addressing his victim.

Chris Partlow is a major antagonist in the HBO series The Wire, serving as a minor antagonist in Season 3, and one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Felicia "Snoop" Pearson) of Season 4 and Season 5. Chris is the main enforcer and right-hand man to drug lord Marlo Stanfield. As the Stanfield's head enforcer, Chris, along with his partner Snoop, is responsible for numerous street level murders and contract killings.

He is portrayed by Gbenga Akinnagbe.

Biography[]

Background[]

Very little is known about Chris' life prior to the events of the series. He was apparently molested as a child, which left him with a deep hatred of child molesters. Based on his interactions with Marlo, they likely have known each other for a long time. He, along with Snoop and Vinson, is one of the only people that Marlo trusts.

Season 3[]

Season 4[]

Working alongside young female soldier Snoop, Chris is tasked with murdering anyone that Marlo wants dead. Their protocol is to take people into vacant houses, kill them there, cover the bodies in quicklime and sheeting, and then board the houses back up. Chris also teaches young recruits how to be assassins.

When Lex, a member of Bodie's crew, kills Stanfield dealer Fruit, Chris advises restraint, suggesting to only kill Lex instead of the entire drug crew he works with. Marlo agrees with Chris' approach and gives him the go-ahead to kill Lex. Chris arranges for Lex to be ambushed by paying Little Kevin to tell him his girlfriend wants to meet him at night in a secluded spot.

Kevin pays an unwitting Randy Wagstaff to pass on the message. Once the trap is sprung, Lex is killed by Chris and Snoop. Chris quickly becomes one of the most feared people in the Baltimore underworld, to the point that kids tell stories about him as if they're ghost stories.

After noticing promise in Michael Lee, one of Bodie's corner boys, Chris is tasked with observing Michael and potentially recruiting him. Michael eventually comes to Marlo on his own when his stepfather, Devar Manigault, who previously molested him, comes back from prison and is intent on molesting Michael's younger brother, Bug. He makes a deal with Marlo to put a hit on Devar in exchange for joining his gang, which Marlo accepts.

Chris and Snoop track down and corner Devar, planning to bring him into a vacant and kill him there. Before they get him inside, Chris, who Michael had likely informed that Devar is a pedophile, gets abnormally aggressive with Devar and confronts him over this. Chris spits on Devar and then viciously beats him to death.

Season 5[]

As the police investigation of the Stanfield Organization came to a close, multiple members of the organization were arrested, including Chris. Due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the sudden success of the previously unsuccessful investigation, Marlo started suspecting a leak within the organization. Marlo instantly started suspecting young enforcer Michael Lee as a potential leak. Chris, who respected and liked Michael, expressed doubt about Michael being the leak. Marlo agreed, but stated that he didn't want to bet his future on that doubt. This is the last scene that Chris appears in, as he is sentenced to life in prison for his crimes.
