The Christ Troopers are the secondary antagonist in the Rick And Morty episode called The Last Temptation of Jerry.
Biography[]
The Christ Troopers are a militant religious faction introduced in the Rick and Morty episode The Last Temptation of Jerry. Originating from an alien race that despises sex and reproduction, the Christ Troopers were established with a single directive: to prevent the spread of Easter Bunnies across the galaxy. According to their belief system, the Easter Bunny is a cosmic threat an entity engineered to spread fertility and overpopulation, ultimately causing planetary collapse through excessive reproduction.
Their history traces back to an ancient mission involving Jesus Christ, who, as revealed in the episode, was originally one of their operatives sent to Earth to stop the original Easter Bunny. However, the mission failed disastrously when Jesus was crucified by humans, a moment that cemented the Troopers' growing disdain for Earth and its holidays.
Led by General Reinhardt Kincaid, the Christ Troopers are heavily armed and devoutly committed to their cause. They seek out and destroy Easter Eggs across the galaxy and attempt to capture or eliminate any new Easter Bunnies, especially those who emerge through accidental transformations like Jerry Smith. Their armor and aesthetic resemble a mixture of futuristic crusaders and Roman soldiers, blending faith-based iconography with brutal tactics.
Despite their moral absolutism and religious zeal, the Christ Troopers display advanced technology and military coordination. They are not above violence and willingly sacrifice themselves for what they view as a sacred mission. In the episode, their fatal mistake is underestimating Jerry’s transformation and the erotic influence of the Easter Bunny pheromones, which ultimately leads to their downfall.
The group serves as a satirical commentary on religious extremism, the commercialization of holidays, and the absurdity of moral crusades against natural human behavior. Though mostly destroyed by the end of the episode, their legacy remains tied to the bizarre mythology of Rick and Morty’s multiverse.
