The Christmas Adventurers Club are the overarching antagonists of the 2025 black comedy thriller One Battle After Another. They are a powerful secret society of white supremacists who hunt down and kill people they deem "impure".
In the film's events, they serve as the motivation for wannabe member Steven J. Lockjaw's evil actions, before they turn on Lockjaw after learning about his former interracial relationship with a revolutionary.
Biography[]
The club was likely formed a long time ago, implied by the advanced age of multiple high-ranking members.
Because of his relentless efforts to suppress immigration and his defeat of the revolutionary group the French 75, U.S. Colonel and Medal of Honor recipient Steven J. Lockjaw was invited to the group in 2025. Lockjaw met with member Virgil Throckmorton at his daughter's wedding, and lied that he had never had an interracial relationship, when in fact he had a sexual encounter with black French 75 member Perfidia Beverly Hills in 2009. The Christmas Adventurers did not yet know that he was lying, and the meeting went smoothly. To make sure his secret stayed hidden, Lockjaw sent his troops to the sanctuary city of Baktan Cross, to eliminate Perfidia's daughter Willa whom Lockjaw suspected of being his biological child.
The Christmas Adventurers summoned a secret underground meeting soon after, where they discussed Lockjaw's potential membership. Having found evidence supporting Lockjaw and Perfidia's relationship, they agreed that Lockjaw can never be allowed into the club, and that he must be killed to protect the club's secrecy. They sent agent Tim Smith to Baktan Cross to kill both Lockjaw and Willa, to tie up all loose ends. Meanwhile, Lockjaw captured Willa and proved his parentage with a DNA test, and brought her to a mercenary to have her be killed. Willa escapes, and Smith shoots Lockjaw in the side of the head with a shotgun, crashing his car in the process. Smith chases after Willa across the hilly roads. Willa swiftly abandons her car on the road and runs to the side with a handgun. Smith crashes his car and exits the door. Smith fails to answer Willa's revolutionary countersign, and Willa shoots him dead. Willa's surrogate father Bob quickly finds her and takes her to safety.
Shockingly, Lockjaw survived the crash, albeit is badly scarred. Oblivious that the Christmas Adventurers were the ones who attacked him, Lockjaw continues trying to join the club. At a meeting at the Adventurers' headquarters, he claims that Perfidia "reverse raped" him and stole his sperm. The Adventurers tell Lockjaw that they finally accept him into their group and lead him to his office. The agents leave and Lockjaw relaxes by putting his feet on the desk and leaning back in his chair. Poison gas quietly and quickly fills the room and Lockjaw silently dies. Agents in hazmat suits retrieve his body and incinerate it.
