Chunky is the main antagonist of DreamWorks' twenty-sixth full-length animated feature film The Croods. He is a Mawcarnivore. His vocals were provided by Dee Bradley Baker.
The Mawcarnivore first appears far away, sleeping in the trees and waking up to hunt.
Chunky then appeared in front of the Croods after Grug was badly beaten up by the Punch Monkeys. He tries to attack them by throwing a boulder, only for him to catch it. Roaring furiously at the heroes, Chunky then attacked, but the Croods all jumped on ostrich-like creatures foot to get away while the others tries to step on Chunky which distracts him.
While the Croods got away, he still caught up with them while growling. However he saw a huge shadow and immediately retreated. Chunky is seen again trying to kill the Croods and Guy, but Guy had a plan. By using giant sticks, the Carnivorous feline was intimidated and stepped away. As for Grug, who continuously steps on his paw he catches him and furiously bites him, Chunky was then seen chasing Grug underwater.
When Grug and Guy are stuck in tar, they use a fake female Mawcarnivore to get the death cat to pull them out, but it doesn't work, since he didn't know what it was doing so he just watches. Grug uses his strength to show fear and struggling in the fake female Mawcarnivore puppet, which persuades Chunky to pull them out, but after realizing that the puppet wasn't a real member of his species, Chunky gets enraged and heads towards Grug nd Guy. However, before the killing blow, something drew him back then leaving him flying towards a cave.
After Grug sacrificed himself to save his family from the end of the world, he goes to a cave only to run into Chunky. He ries to fight back before he roared and blew out the fire of the torch, but suddenly, a comet shook the land, causing Grug and Chunky to relight the fire and work together to escape extinction.
Along the way, Grug finds trapped animals and puts them on with Chunky and finally return to the family, at the end of the film. Chunky served as the companion to Grug and Ugga as the Bearowl and other creatures joined them into the sun.
